My husband and I live on the beautiful island of Madeira. We have been here for over 11 years and obviously have tried many restaurants in that time and previously when we came here for holidays. We love Armazém do Sal for the wonderful food, perfect service, good wines and pleasant ambience. The tables are not all squashed together as in many of the restaurants here including some that consider themselves "high class". The 3 course menu with wines, water, apéritif and coffee is excellent value at only €37 and if, like my husband, you don't wish to drink alcohol then the cost is only €29, amazing. We make frequent visits to this delightful place and never get bored or blasé, in fact I wish we could get there more often.

What a find! We only just managed to reserve a table here and we're so glad we didn’t miss out on this dining experience. The restaurant is just lovely and great for a special occasion. We opted for the set menu with wine pairing - every course was perfect and the accompanying wines – generous measures - were excellent and well paired. The staff were brilliant – friendly but very professional. This restaurant is incredibly good value for money given the quality of food and service - as near to fine dining as you will get without paying for it I think someone said, and they’re right. It's not that easy to find but well worth it when you do.

This place is amazing...don't visit the area without going.... Filet mignon falls away from the knife and the chocolate volcano is a delight. I've never felt so compelled to leave a review. A must on anyone's list when visiting Maderia.

Just got back from a fantastic dinner at this lovely place, and the smile just won't leave our faces. Perfect, yet relaxed, service and great food. The set three course menu is a shear bargain (€29) especially if you add the matching wines (€37).
We had salmon and squid for starters, both nice. For mains, duck and sea bass, and for desserts the chocolate volcano and the orange crème brulé. Genuinely happy with it all! We will most definitely be back. Soon!
And oh, the girl with the guitar was nothing but a star!

We chose to eat there on the basis of it being #1 on tripadvisor in Funchal. We weren't disappointed, from the meet and greet, the meal, the wine and the ambience, everything was first class. So much so we made 2 further visits whilst we there.

The outside has several tables, perhaps not quite so good as inside, but not bad in a covered courtyard. Some evenings they have live music and they benefit the outside tables more.

I would recommend the all inclusive €37 menu which includes the meal, water, beer and as much wine as you care drink. Very good value.
