Description: A traditional country pub, in a idyllic surrounding. Set in the peaceful village of Chacombe, the George and Dragon is only 1 mile from junction 11 of the M40. The George and dragon is the perfect place for all occasions, whether it be for entertaining corporate lunches during the day, cosy dinners, family get togethers or a drink with your friends. The pub dates back to the 17th century and still has original beams and fire places. During an extension 20 years ago a hidden well was discovered, which has long become a big attraction of the pub, along with the unique brass bar. There is a large patio area which can seat up to 40 people during the long and thirsty summer months.

We stopped here on the way south to catch a ferry to France, and loved it so much we stopped again a week later on the way back north. A lovely old village pub, tastefully decorated, with friendly staff, a good range of Everard real ales and superb home-made food. I would not be ashamed to bring a French tourist here for a meal - I wish I could say that for all British pubs.

We have known this pub for many years. It used to be great but standards had declined over recent years, but now with new owners it is better than ever. Good beer, nice atmosphere, excellent choice of food all nicely cooked and presented and very friendly service...whats not to like ? Have been 3 times in the last week and will continue to frequent in the future, very nice to have such a lovely pub on our doorstep

We used our satnav to find petrol in Banbury and then needing a lunch stop used it to find a pub. This one was the first to come up and are we glad it did! Oh you lucky people in Chacombe. What a gem! Unfortunately as I was driving I was limited to sparkling water, but how I wish I could have tried the cask ales. The sandwich we had was massive, with a well dressed salad and enormous home made chips. Oh if only we had something like this near us. Thoroughly recommended.

..... and well worth a visit. A traditional English Country Pub, well and sympathetically renovated a few years ago with a fine choice of beer on tap and a comprehensive but interesting menu of favourites old and new. Friendly, enthusiastic service and very fine fare. Only criticism would be that the wine list is "sparse" 3 reds, 3 whites, none of them inspiring. But the beer is great!!
