“Pastries to die for”
Reviewed August 24, 2014

We ate breakfast here twice, since we were staying on the property and breakfast was included. After our delicious breakfast (including fresh-squeezed orange juice!), we were offered sweet gourmet pastries to take with us. I don't think that was even part of what we paid for! The cafe is so beautiful and quirky, you'll feel like you're sitting in a dollhouse. They even have rotating exhibits; when we were there, there were lots of marionettes from a local theater artist. I can't recommend Espaco Edla highly enough...it was simply wonderful.

“A gem of a small restaurant”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

Last week my wife and I spent some wonderful days in Cascais in Portugal staying in Villa Grande Real which was a very Nice hotel With very helpful staff . One day we took the local bus to Sintra where we had been before and due to warm weather we walked around to find a restaurant With a terrace. Then tucked away near the Train station and bus stop for Capa de Roca and Cascais we found a very Nice retaurant With top Hospitality and staff speaking good English. We had one of the best salads we ever had and a Nice bottle of white wine from Douro . When we got the bill we were surprised to see how reasonable the lunch had been. They also had a Nice shop nearby and a small hostel . main thing was personal service With a smile and very good quality of the food.

“Delightful Salon de Thé”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

Charming, quaint, humourous, artistic, subtle, clean, friendly, peaceful, sleek, inventive, classy, elegant, delicious, tasteful, quiet tearoom with a seductive menu, and full of historical references.
It is run by a middle-aged couple, the male partner of which shyly and proudly revealed that his wife had done the decor. We sat in high-backed white chairs that resembled thrones as befitting Portugal's royal Sintra setting.
I ordered a thick and luscious dark hot chocolate, my friend an expresso. We shared a pastry roll with an egg and almond filling, a specialty of the region. To do the place justice we should have stayed until we had sampled the whole variety of sweets, teas and coffees.
Edla also offers accommodations and an art program that is no doubt worth exploring.

“A uncommon 'tea house' in Sintra\”
Reviewed December 25, 2013

Very beautiful place; tea house, restaurant, gourmet products. The name comes from a very important figure from Sintra, the second wife of the king that made Sintra what it is today. The tea house has a dress from the countess offered by her family.

“Fantastic tea place”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

we were trying to 'kill' sometime while waiting for the train back to Lisbon. we happen to come across this shop. initially we thought it was a shop selling some handicrafts due to the display of some costumes from 'romantic era'. however, we were hugely wrong as it happens to be a restaurant. the 'tea set' that consist of a caramel muffin & espresso caught my eye. coz the set cost 1.20 euros. my friend and i both got 1 set each and it was just amazing!
we also bought some packets of biscuits and marmalade as gifts. the people wrapped them up nicely for us!
the shop is about 5min away from the Sintra train station. go down the super steep steps and turn to the left. u'll be able to find the shop.
