Quinta Verde Sintra

We stayed for 3 nights at the Quinta Verde Sintra in December, along with one other couple. We arrived late at night and Tina helped us with directions, as we were a little lost. The property is located in a quiet, picturesque valley about a ten minute drive from Sintra (A car is essential here).

The rooms (main building) were large, but we were slightly disappointed with the quality of the furnishings. Nothing terribly wrong, but they were slightly tired and old (especially given the price we paid). Breakfast was decent - freshly baked bread, fruit, juices. Tina gave us some very good recommendations for dinner in nearby restaurants (As a B&B, no food is available at the property apart from breakfast). Overall, friendly service makes this a good base to explore Sintra, if you want to avoid the crowds, but the rooms could have been better.

Thank you very much for taking your time to write a comment about our place! Regarding our location, there are many ways to reach us, some of course more straightforward than others. We usually recommend the recent highway A16 (free if you are using the section close to us) which takes you to the village of Lourel, about 5 minutes away from us. After this, just follow the well placed signs in the 3 crossings until our door. Because of our tall position, from our place we can see at the distance all the historical monuments and the beautiful green valley that accompanies the mountains of Sintra towards the Atlantic Ocean.

A car is not essential for those visiting us; we are getting more and more guests interested in enjoying the relaxing countryside without the worries of having a car, relying occasionally in taxis or public transportation between Sintra and the village closer to us!

We're sorry you didn't fully appreciate your room. We actually use high quality pieces of furniture acquired in many occasions, in different places. They are all extremely well kept tasteful pieces, hand-crafted, made with real solid wood - sorry, no MDF or plastic here. Our aim is to produce a soulful decoration which we believe to have achieved considering the comments we keep getting from our guests.

Our breakfast has always been subject of compliments, not only because of the freshness of the products (some of them obtained right here at the Quinta) but also because of its variety. Regarding “food in the property”, there are written menus available to our guests in the rooms and common areas, offering many options of tasty light meals. We also prepare home-made dinners, delicious meals especially prepared according to traditional Portuguese standards which have been greatly appreciated by our guests. We hope you’ll be able to experience it also in your next visit. All the best,
Miguel Sena

We recently spent a week in Portugal and this won as our favourite B&B! We only spent a night here but will definitely be back if ever in Sintra again. It is a little way out of Sintra but only ten minutes and if you have a car it is great because parking at the Quinta is easy! Tina and her husband were extremely welcoming and we had a lovely large room with comfy bed, outside space and a great bathroom. Being veggies we declined meat for breakfast but that wasn't a problem and we had a very delicious breakfast cooked just for us! The setting is stunning with great views across the valley and an amazing looking swimming pool (although we didn't get in it - sadly). Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed for 6 nights at Quinta Verde and it was absolutely perfect. The house is set in beautiful grounds and is as lovely as the pictures on the website portray. Our room (which was very spacious) had its own little terrace overlooking the gardens. The bed was so comfy and behind what I thought were wardrobe doors, was a little kitchen - which is perfect for fixing your own suppers if you wish. Tina, who runs the house with the aid of her helpful staff, is a gem. She is full of energy and enthusiasm and couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We didn't have a car and used the train and buses to get about - as well as walking, which we enjoy - although not for the faint hearted as the area is very hilly. Tina kindly gave us lifts down to the main town and even to a local restaurant for a fabulous dinner one evening - and even arranged for them to drive us back again! Breakfasts were more than enough to keep us fuelled for the morning and the view from our table was fantastic - even though we didn't enjoy the best weather, it didn't stop us enjoying this wonderful place. Heartily recommended.

The Quinta Verde is a very beautiful property and I imagine it is even more so in the spring. We stayed here the last four nights of a 14-day trip to Portugal in September, and unfortunately those 3 days were the ones with the worst weather. Also, we spent most of the time outside this B&B, so in a way I can't rate it in a good way. Had we had more days I think we'd have spent some days hanging out there, considering how peaceful and nice it was. Fantastic view and very comfortable with pool and even though there's no bar, there's a self-serve fridge with beverages and such.

Anyway. The room - junior suite - we had was VERY spacious and nice. Lack of air conditioning made it a little damp, but otherwise no problem at all. Breakfast was somewhat different, where everyone is served at the table, with different juice, fruit and bread every day. Very nice breakfast.

One downside might be that the Quinta Verde is placed a few kilometers outside Sintra, with no restaurants within walking distance. The best are located 3-4 kms away and you'll need a car or a taxi. They do serve dinner at the B&B if you let them know in the morning. We never had dinner there, so I can't rate it.

Staff is helpful, even though it seems the owners are the only ones that speak another language than Portuguese.

I'll be happy to return.

We were lucky enough that this place was available for our last two nights in Portugal after a two week roadtrip. We hadnt booked anything but found it on the web two nights before and were very happy with it. The location is good, not far from Sintra and the beaches but in a quiet location although you can sometimes hear the nearby road which isnt disturbing though. Great breakfast (fresh juice!) and lovely swimmingpool with an amazing view. Welcoming, helpful and very funny host Tina, she and her son truly make an effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Great system that there is a fridge were you can take inexpensive drinks and the served a lovely lunch. Can recommend the place to anyone.

We stayed for 4 nights with our 2 kids of 3 and 5. The appartment is diveded in 2 rooms, 1 large bedroom en 1 living room with beds made for the kids. Everthing in the quinta is made with love and care, the family is very nice and makes you feel welcome. For people who want to use internet you need to bring you divecd to the maiin house and sit in front of the widow to get wifi. Its funny to see the internet addics glude to the window. Don't need to tell the view is stunning, just look at the pictures.

We stayed two nights QVS. This B&B offered a large, nice and clean room. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. The staff very friendly. The views from the poolside overlooking Sintra were beautiful. Highly recommended.
