This has all the hallmarks of a declining hotel - in its day 40 or 50 years ago it was probably a phenomenal place to stay; so classy and luxurious. Times have somewhat overtaken the place though, and there are signs of underspend everywhere: crumbling plaster, flaking paint and ricketty doors.
But it is a lovely place to stay nonetheless: in these days of standardised chains of hotels which basically all ressemble each other, this is a place you won't forget. Its location in a superb wooded garden with a splendid swimming pool in the shade of the Moorish Castle set above Sintra itself is good start, although access is challenging due to Sintra's one-way system and chronic traffic jams. The taxis charge you 6 euros or so from the station and go via San Pedro. Then there are the rooms - huge, high-ceilinged things with new windows and nice bathrooms, but slightly cool out of season. Downstairs are the rambling TV room with an assortment of games and the splendid breakfast room with open fire and views over the garden and up to the Castle.
The breakfast is adequate enough; although they don't do meals, they do cheap snacks of sandwiches and such like, and there is a bar. Prices are very low - a couple of euros for a sandwich, a bit less for a beer.
We loved it, but it's a quirky place and not for everyone. I would imagine it's at its best in Spring and Autumn.

Well kept manor house; large comfortable rooms; very helpful & friendly owners & staff; variety, fresn & plentiful continental breakfast; located in a beautiful, hilly town with lots to visit; very quiet & peaceful; we really loved this "B&B".

English: The service was excellent, the staff is always available and show us that they want to help and make our stay the best possible. The breakfast is very good. The rooms are spacious and the location is fantastic. It has games in the common living room and a large TV. It has wifi, a swimming pool and a garden with a large and a beautiful scenery of the mountains of Sintra and the Moorish Castle.

Os quartos são espaçosos e a localização é fantástica. Tem jogos na sala de estar comum e uma grande televisão. Tem wifi, tem piscina e um jardim grande e bonito com uma paisagem sobre a serra de Sintra e o Castelo dos Mouros.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in early december. This is a lovely hotel that has the feel of a B&B. Hotel is nicely located just above the town of Sintra. It is a 10-15 minute walk into the heart of town downhill all the way. Take a cab or grab the bus back as the return trip is all uphill and can be treacherous at night. We planed to stay 2 nights but were so pleased with the hotel and Sintra in general we made it 3 nights. The breakfast was very nice and we loved the breakfast room which included a wood burning fireplace. We had one of the double rooms with a garden view. The room was bright and cheery with great views of the lovely property and surrounding area.

The Hotel Jardim Hotel is a very special place; a place of elegance and tranquillity. The staff are friendly, the garden is exquisite and the pool is impressive. The bedroom is comfortable and clean and the breakfast is particularly good. However, this is not a hotel; it is a place to stay for 'BED and BREAKFAST'. The establishment does not have a restaurant nor is food, other than basic sandwiches, provided at any time after breakfast. True, you can walk into Sintra but the walk is down an unlit and steep hill with no sidewalk and vehicles are not particularly respectful of pedestrians. This is not a pleasant experience. I would stay at the Sintra Jardim again (for all the reasons above) but please be warned, it is NOT, by common understanding, a Hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view - we did and were not disappointed.
