The location of the Casa Miradouro can be a bit of a challenge for those not used to hiking or even walking uphill. But as taxis are inexpensive, that really doesn't matter. The beautiful old building has been remodeled and redecorated with fresh, light, luminous furnishings mixed with antiques. The public rooms are equipped with complimentary coffee and tea, wine and harder stuff for a minimal price. Charlotte, the owner, is a thoughtful hostess and her staff is attuned to dealing with whatever may arise. Central Sintra is only a few short, uphill blocks away - but it is all downhill on the way home! The views from the rooms are lovely - castles everywhere, the sea, the mountains - and for those with a sense of history, an abandoned old building that only adds to the ambiance. The rooms are fresh and clean with comfortable linens and modern bathrooms. Internet is available in public rooms and sometimes in bedrooms. The breakfast is worth the additional cost, with eggs cooked to order, freshly baked pastries and anything else one might desire. This is a lovely, relaxing place to enjoy the beauty of Sintra.
