“When the tram will be in service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2012

Unfortunately it seems that the tram is not in service and there was no information. I'm sure it is a wonderful journey as when going from Sintra to Azenhas do Mar we could see the tram rails and we could imagine how nice the ride could be. It seems that no one have the information. Even on their website there is no mention when service will be back.

“Sintra Royalty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2012

This is a great place to visit. Portugal royalty built their palaces here. See old town (a short walk from train station), Monserrate, Castelo dos mouros, Palacio nacional da Pena. Easy access from busses in old town.

“A magic place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2012

Took the train from Rossio Station in Lisbon to Sintra. After exiting to the right of the Sintra station, caught the circular bus to Pena Palace. Buts runs every half hour. Cost 5 Euros per person. We were there on a Sunday and it was crowded. Get there early as crowd increases as the day goes along. Stopped first at Pena Palace. Gorgeous views and the place is like a Disney Castle, or maybe vice versa. Then walked down to the Moorish Castle. It is a hike to top of Moorish Castle, but worth the view.. Skip the National Palace at bottom of the hill. No views, just an old place. Both Pena and Morrish castle give a senior discount. Had a snack at Pena Palace, but restaurants are pricey in Sintra. Consider a picnic lunch. The Sintra experience is one of the best in Portugal. Be prepared for lots of walking on uneven surfaces. This is truly a hidden treasure. Only knew about through friends. Most guidebooks mention it, but don't give it high praise.
