One of the Eco places that just quietly gets on with, and does a great job.

The beds were comfortable, the hostel was clean.
The breakfast (which is included in the rates- wow) was simple, but catered for vegetarians.
I has a yoga class in the garden in the shade of a big tree, with an excellent teacher, very well priced.
There was a bar next door with live music & a BBQ which served vegetarian sausages.
It was easy to find, and well located.
My only criticism is that there are no female only dorms.

I can't fault it, and am looking forward to my next trip there.

Room Tip: Dorm rooms are not locked, but you get a padlock and storage area for no extra charge.

I had a quite and cozy stay at the hostel. absoultely loved the surrounding and ambience. It is a short walk from the main Sintra tourist path and has a nice live music bar nearby. QUite interesting overall. The staff is affable and cooperative as well.

The Alana Sintra was the nicest hostel I stayed in on a two week trip in Spain and Portugal. It is in a lovely location and the house is wonderful! The staff was very helpful and I felt the most welcomed there of any place. It engendered meeting the others staying there and sharing dinnertime in the kitchen. The living room space is excellent for relaxing, catching up on email or just visiting with other travelers. Great place!

I loved this special, very beautiful and peaceful place, where everything is organic.
It has a good location near the villa and monuments, but away from the hustle.
I also recommend the hospitality and friendliness that makes us feel at home.
I'm going back for sure, thanks for everything.Teresa Oliveira

Almaa is a unique and wonderful spot. The lovely house, the friendly people and the amazing environment inside the mysterious forest, makes this eco hostel a "must to go" place. Thank you Almaa for all, we will be back for sure.
