We visited Sintra so I could celebrate my birthday in the atmospheric grottos the Quinta da Regaleira. to our astonishment, the room we booked actually looked out over the Quinta, and the Pena palace was in sight as well among the wooded hillside views. The hostel itself is a quaint little mansion we could spot looking back across the valley from the towers of the Quinta. Décor is great fun and the staff were really helpful - even re-charging a mobile for us! As we checked in they offered a trip to the most westerly point of the European landmass (Capo da Roca) along with a tasting of home-made "jinja" (cherry liqueur). Wished I'd bought a bottle there and then as we never found such good stuff in town. The garden is really restful (especially early in the morning) and designed for out-door living, eating and relaxing. I'm usually hard to please, but I'll be recommending Nice Way Sintra Palace to all my friends for the quieter months. Great kitchen and the chance to join in the hostel atmosphere, but works equally well as a hotel/guesthouse with wonderful views. It's a short but steep walk into town for us oldies, but it's an even shorter walk back down at night! They were happy to mind our bags after check-out time and even let us back in to relax between climbing palaces and catching the sub-urban train back to Lisbon

I cannot recommend this hostel more highly! It is beautiful, clean and the staff is ridiculously awesome. They were so gracious, accommodating and inclusive. They made a bonfire at night and everyone in the hostel hung out around the fire, drinking port wine and getting to know one another. We only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed ten! The location is excellent... Just a short walk to all the great sites of Sintra as well as the small town. I will see you again, Nice Way Sintra Palace! Thanks for my best hostel experience in Europe.

This hostel is great value in a great location just a stones throw away from the heart of the old centre. The staff went went of their way to help us, Pedro, who first checked us in could not have been more helpful in his advice about where to go and best places to eat. The hostel has a great atmosphere, especially in the relaxing garden with cheap drinks and cocktails which was perfect after a day of sight seeing. Even better in the evening we had a campfire so we got to meet loads of visitors and staff. Great place to stay- i really hope that i can return to Sintra and i wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!

This is a great hostel. It is clean, affordable, and run by people who genuinely care about their job and their guests.

The gardens are a great place to relax, read a book, listen to music, or chat with others.
There is a full kitchen to for everyone to use or the staff prepares a dinner almost every night for the guests at a very affordable price. The general purpose room has a TV and several movies. The decor is kitschy and comfortable. The Wifi works well in all places.

The room I had was clean and the bed although a little lumpy was good. I did have a restful sleep but the old building does have a lot of creaky old floorboards. The hot water seemed a bit run through at times even if I was the first in the shower.

Still for the price point this is a great place and recommend it for you stay in Sintra. There are single rooms and dorm style rooms available and you will like the charming old building.

The hotel is located a short walk downhill from the National Palace. From the train station in Sintra you can take a bus or walk if you don't have too many bags.

Just an amazing hostel! The staff is superfriendly, and there is a relaxing vibe around the hostel and the people that you'll rarely find. The beautiful garden definitely contributes to the general level of coziness; it is wonderful.

This is a very beautiful old building, with a fabulous garden and gorgeous views. As with all of Sintra, it is on a pretty terrifying hill. I learned to drive stick-shift while we were in Portugal, so I was a little freaked out! But the good thing is, we found street parking right outside the hostel.

The location is fine. They had a private bathroom on our floor and a dorm bathroom. Very nice. They had dinner every night (we did not partake, but it was cool that they have it). I would definitely recommend staying here!

They also hooked us up with a tour, we were the only ones on it! I forget what it is called, but it was a nighttime tour that was kind of crazy and fun. The tour guide was great with her old van, driving up and down all these treacherous hills! Someone that worked at the hostel even gave me a sweater to wear because it was chilly that night.

My husband and I started staying in NiceWay when they were just starting out, at a different location. They so love what they do that it a joy to be around them. They speak English well, so don't hesitate to call them to ask about rooms. They have several kinds of rooms, but not a lot of them, so be sure to book ahead. We are always looking forward to our next visit. Note: parking is difficult.
