“My best holiday experience ever !”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

My girlfriend has already written the more 'elaborated' review almost one year ago, but I needed to revisit this page to give praise to this beautiful B&B.

To briefly describe the B&B : Sintra was great and villa mira longa with it's 2 (3 with the dog included) great hosts really added to all this. The breakfast was LEGENDARY ! We stayed in the B&B alone so we expected a light version of the regular breakfast, which was a false expectation : great fresh ingredients and alot of choice. I ate so much breakfast !

Our 2 hosts provided us with great information of the region (which can be visited perfectly from the B&B, even by foot) and even brought us by car once for a good price!

The rooms were really tidy, and were cleaned really often. The entire hotel, including the rooms are decorated in a very detaillistic manner (since one of our hosts did this as a job). The rooms look out over the valley and the balcony downstairs offers a fantastic view, especially when it's dark and you see al the pretty streetlights far away !

Sintra was really magical and this B&B really added to this. We feel lucky to have discovered it when it was still fairly unknown and a leap of faith to book it. In the meanwhile, I'm happy to see alot of other people have found their way to this little gem in the small paradise called Sintra

Stayed here for 2 nights, absolutely fantastic find. Michel and Oseias have taken this beautiful old building and restored it so it almost rivals some of the local palaces. Immaculate decor, spotlessly clean and decorated with wonderful furniture and eccentric flourishes. Why would anyone book into a boring hotel when they could stay in a place as original and as loved as this building. Our double room was at the back tucked away surrounded by a gorgeous garden. Very large bed with high quality bed linens, bathrobes, slippers, toiletries, a bathroom with shower, hair dryer, lots of towels. Great water pressure in the shower, everything so clean it all looked brand new. Heating in the room and bathroom if required which you can set at your desired temperature; Sintra does get cooler in the evenings. A small kitchen also leading off the bedroom with kettle, fridge, complimentary tea, coffee etc. A sofa and small table with 2 chairs. It was a great sized room with plenty of space for our two suitcases. Free wi-Fi accessible in the lounge and dining area. Our breakfast was included and was beautifully laid out in the main dining area. A great choice of things to eat from cereals, toast, bread, meats, cheeses etc all of high quality. No in room safe but you could ask them to look after valuable items if required although the room was very secure and we just locked anything valuable in our suitcase when we went out. The villa is situated on a hill with incredible views across Sintra, it overlooks two of the palaces. Free parking available outside at the front on the main road. Easy walking distance to some of the main landmarks. Not really accessible to wheelchair users but then Sintra itself would present huge challenges due to the nature of how the city Is built on very steep hills. I really recommend this place, it's so unique and relaxing and Michel and Oseias are hugely knowledgeable about Sintra and the history of it's landmarks. A great find for sure.

Room Tip: Ours was down round the back in the garden, very private with its own kitchen.

This is probably my favorite B&B experience so far. Clean, comfortable, friendly. We feel genuinely welcome here. We stayed in the apartment - comfortable common room, great kitchen, 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. The views of the National Palace and Quinta de Regaleira are great. We made use of the downstairs living room and patio daily. Without question, I would come here again.

As to location - perfect. The Regaleira is a 5 minute walk away. Old town is just outside the door. The National Palace is also 5 minutes walk. The train station is about 20 minutes walk, other than the hills, it's easy. Just follow the signs for Pena Palace as you walk. The Moors castle and Pena Palace are a few km walk up the hill.

Food - don't miss G-spot Gastronomia and their tasting menu. The food and view from Dom Lopo are both excellent.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

Wonderful place. Wonderful people. Wonderful people.

Half of the beauty of Villa Mira Longa is not the actual hotel itself, but the fact that it is located within Sintra. Sintra is magical for so many reason, its nature, its history, its location, its peaceful atmosphere. Sintra is a great place and Villa Mira Longa is the perfect compliment to a Sintra vacation.

The owners and hosts, Michel and Oseias, are an amazing pair that provide so much of what is wonderful about a stay at the Villa. They are kind and knowledgeable and funny and caring. As this was part of our honeymoon stay in Portugal they also went out of their way to provide us with a few extra welcome treats that made our stay wonderful.

The breakfast food spread was wonderful. Fresh orange juice, local butter and jams, all of it so delicious.

The house was easy to get to within walking distance of all of the top sites in Sintra. And it was easy to get inside of the house and not feel like you were disturbing anyone, at whatever time you arrived.

Their main restaurant recommendation to us was the delicious Tasca do Chico that we ate at in the heart of the small town.

We will happily return here and recommend it highly to others as a place to stay. And the price was great too!

The breakfast was amazing and the rooms are even better, in addition to the wonderful hospitality and beautiful area of Sintra. We would highly recommend this wonderful villa and hope to some day make our way back. Worth every penny.

This was our first stop in Portugal and one of the very best. Sintra itself is a magical place even in cold & rainy weather. The villa is beautifully decorated. The location & views are wonderful. Very comfy beds. Excellent breakfast. We missed meeting the owner. His sister spoke little English and we speak even less Portuguese but smiles went a long way. The dogs always welcomed us back like old friends.

We were there in early Feb. with a bit of rain and cold. However, once you step in the house, the warmth from the fire place, the stunning view and the beautiful setting that strike us. It's like everyone's dream house. We stayed at the sunset room and the amenity is comparable to a 5 star hotel and I prefer the villa much more because its got the personal touch. The villa is beautifully design with a lot of personal collections. Location is excellent as well. It is within walking distance to the train station, the city center and the Quinta da Regaleria; bus to Pena Palace is just outside the villa! Besides that, the host Michel is a very friendly gentleman and would offer his help and service any time. It is highly recommended!
