We stayed several days in the Lord Byron Suite (named for the 19th Century British bad-boy poet who once stayed in this room for a period of time). The bedroom was simple (almost spartan), yet comfortable. The living room was nicely sized with fireplace, desk, couch, chair, desk and balcony. This is a historic hotel with some real history, so do no expect it to be a modern chain-style hotel. But it is definitely the place to stay in Sintra for some charm. An easy stroll from the hotel down to the center of town (restaurants and other sites), or uphill to various other historic landmarks and hotels. The on-site restaurant was nice too -- convenient for breakfast (included) yet we also enjoyed a pleasant meal for dinner one night.
