Casa da Pendoa was a terrific find. We were just looking for an inexpensive place to stay in Sintra. We lucked out when we found this place. The location couldn't be any better. It was a 5 minute taxi ride from the train station in Sintra to get to the apartment. You could literally take a 5 minute walk to the National Palace of Sintra or a 15 minute walk to Quinta la Regalia. The Peña Palace and the Moorish castle were all very close to the hotel and easy to access. Right in town there was access to busses or taxis to get anywhere.

The apartment itself was clean and simple with modern touches. The kitchen and bathroom were both recently renovated and had nice new fixtures. The apartment we stayed in had a master bedroom with a queen sized bed and a second bedroom with two smaller beds, as well as a large open living room and a kitchen.

There was good strong wifi included and a nice flatscreen TV (which we didn't use). We had plentiful hot water, great water pressure and windows with great views.

The apartment was inexpensive, comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly, helpful and available. Overall this is a quaint, easy to stay at apartment. Everything you need is within walking distance including many of the sights.

(Note: this is a converted house, not a large hotel. So, there is no restaurant. You'll have to walk up to town for food or cook your own in the in-apartment kitchen)

Room Tip: Book early, and see if you can get an apartment on one of the lower floors. There is no elevator (si...

OK, so if you're looking at this accommodation you have already decided to visit Sintra. Which will be one of the best decisions you make, ever. Sintra is stunning. We stayed at Casa da Pendoa for 3 nights as we wanted the facilities of a studio at a reasonable price, and overall we really enjoyed our stay. We had apt 5b, which is a loft studio. It has 3 separate opening windows, all with shutters, and one window has a lovely view right up the hill to the Moorish castle. The only member of staff we met was David, who was very friendly and eager to help. The room is for 2 people with 2 single beds pushed together. It was air-conditioned, which was nice. The kitchenette included a kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave, along with a washing machine and a line outside the castle view window to hang the washing out, which we did, like the locals do :-) The location in Sintra was excellent - in the historical centre, just a few strides away from restaurants and sights, including the National Palace, and about a 10 minute walk from the Quinta de Regaleira - a must-see house and gardens. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from the train station, albeit a very pleasant one, and the street is fairly quiet. Another good thing was the free wi-fi. Negatives - well, the bathroom could do with a good clean around the shower area and a look at the plumbing, as it smelled of blocked drains quite badly, so much we had to keep the bathroom door shut all the time we were in the apartment. Hot water took a while to come. Other minor issues such as door knobs falling off and no remote control for the TV (old-style i.e. not flatscreen).

Room Tip: If you're tall don't choose our room, 5b, the loft studio (advertised as 'mountain view...

We had a wonderful stay at Casa da Pendoa! The location is superb - right in the old village and a short walk from Quinta da Regaleira, one of the main attractions in Sintra. Our room was much larger than I expected - it had a full kitchen and even a washing machine. It's great value for the price!

We choosed the Casa da Pendoa through booking.com. We were pleased of the appartment offer. We made our way to Sintra coming from Porto and finding Sintra was really easy. Finding the Casa was a bit more of a challenge but we finally made our way through the narrow streets.

The staff, young and friendly made our check in very easy. We were located on the upper floor and we were expecting an old house so no surprises there.

We stayed only one night but were very happy with the quality of sleep we got. Real matresses on real beds!

If we're going back to Sintra, we will definitely consider going back there.

The hotel/apartments are clean, warm and beautifully furnished. We stayed in the 2 bed attic which (if you mind your head) was perfect. Incredibly comfortable and well thought out. The reception is not manned here all the time but when my phone died an I requested a spare key (so we could go out separately) by email they delivered one to the door within half an hour!! The staff were extremely helpful and polite, the apartment a sanctuary!! Tricky place to find but superb location once you are here. and worth the effort. The staff had actually sent me an email with good directions and a map a few days before we arrived (which unfortunately I didn't open as I was not on line) so look out for that when you book!! Ideally just find the large white palace, keep it on your right drive down past hotel Trivoli and do a sharp U turn to the left, Casa da Pendoa is behind the Trivoli on your right. If you are totally stuck they will come to meet you at the Turismo :)

Room Tip: Mountain views are best, otherwise you will face the back of another hotel.

We were two couples sharing the spacious 4 bedroom apartment located on the ground floor. A lovely apartment with everything needed for housekeeping and very reasonably priced. The location is ideal – in a quiet location very close to the main square with shops and restaurants, the National Palace, and the bus to the castles. But, as somebody else mentioned, buy your groceries before you get to Sintra as there is nothing within walking distance. We took the train into Lisbon one day; the station is about a km away but a very pretty walk. The hosts were very nice and helpful. We were so glad we chose Sintra as our base for exploring the area and for choosing Casa de Pendoa as our home in Sintra.

It was more difficult to find than we expected. We received an aerial view map from the host but didn’t turn early enough and got lost. I would recommend that anyone arriving by car park the car in the main plaza and go to the hotel on foot. It’s very easy to find by using the map provided. Then you can check in and get directions on where to park. We actually followed (on foot) the route we would take by car from the main square so that we wouldn’t get lost. Then it was easy.
