Following the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided to ignore our first choice of GSpot Gastronomia, as it was quite a long way further to walk from our base at Cinco in Largo da Caracota, and to visit the number two recommendation of Tasca Do Chico.
We should have followed our original choice as we had the worst meal that we have ever had – in terms of the food.
Service, however, was excellent and very friendly but all floors of the restaurant were heaving with tables being turned as soon as was possible. A ‘dumb waiter’ delivered food to the first floor and it was very clear that the kitchen was under too much pressure. Maybe the fact that it was the weekend of the Portuguese motorbike Grand Prix did not help!
Even the waitress seemed to know that all was not as it should be as she apologised before we had even started our food. No offer to change our food, which again was a symptom of the pressure the staff were under.
If the food had been halfway decent, it would have been good value for money.
