Hiking to the Palace of Pena, will take you through the palace grounds and past the Duck Houses and ponds. Make sure you take the entire day to enjoy Sintra.

Really nothing special. But a little funny. And decorative small homes for the ducks, geese and other birds.
If you pass it, okay - but do not change route for going there.

This was just a fun place to stop and enjoy the geese and the architecture of the Duck House. Not sure who designed it but these ducks are very lucky to have a pretty nice hangout.

If they weren't so different and noticeable, I probably would not have written about them; however, the ancient duck houses at the Park of Pena do stand out. They are positioned in the gardens of the palace, in the ponds of the gardens, to be precise. They look as though someone placed tiaras atop some miniature towers. Uniquely decorative, these structures do serve their function as shelters for ducks, but really, they could only have been created in a very different time and environment than the 21st century.
