“Decent Facilities but good luck sleeping”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2013 via mobile

This hotel would get one star from me if it was not for the fact that they gave us breakfast because it was impossible to sleep with the all day partying going on at the hotel. The hotel booked something like 100 person dart team competition to take place at the hotel. The result: police being called, beer and trash thrown all over the place including into our balconies. They were like animals. I guess we know what the "nature " part they are referring to in their hotel name.

Good: Pepe who works the breakfast was the nicest guy. This is the perfect example of the type of interaction I want with hotel staff. On the other hand, the reception when checking out this morning not so much. Yes, he finally relented into giving us free breakfast but after the hell we just went through he made it seem like he was doing us some grandiose favor. Instead, he should have been apologizing profusely and asked what he could do.

Note to Management: If you are going to rent out a hotel to a frat party, make them rent the whole hotel! Don't subject random guest with no knowledge of such environment to a stay of torture .

The good: nice views, clean rooms, very good wifi.

We spent one night here. We had booked a 'Junior Suite' in the old palacete section of the hotel. The first thing I had to do was call reception to request toilet paper for the bathroom. When we returned to our room after dining in Setubal, we decided to bathe and go to bed. Then we noticed the noise, sounds of furniture being dragged along a floor, persistent banging and what sounded like drilling. We called reception to ask if any work was taking place (even though it was by now 11 p.m.). The receptionist could hear the noise on the other end of the phone, it was that bad. It turned out a conference party was using the roof-top dining room three floors above us and we could hear their chairs being scraped along the floor and the elevator taking them to and from the dining room. Fortunately the hotel was not full and ,despite the hour, we were offered a choice of three alternative rooms. Two were no improvement because of the noise of neighbourhood dogs barking. We finally found one which was relatively quiet and were able to sleep.

For a Four-Star rated hotel the Sado was a great disappointment. Apart from the noise and the toilet paper, the breakfast choice was very meagre (cereals, rolls, toast and drinks), and not fresh. However, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, particular the night receptionist who held us find an alternative room and our breakfast waiter.

Room Tip: Steer clear of room 505! Noisy and smells musty.

Nice hotel a little of the beaten track. You can probably walk to town center if you want. It felt safe but a taxi was note more then 5 Euros so given this the choice was simple!
Really good and nice room with excellent beds ( at least 216) We did note have the breakfast since we ate that at the golf club very morning. Its a 15 min drive to Montado. The staff was helpful when booking taxi etc.

Room Tip: 216 was good.

Up the hill to the west of the city, Hotel do Sado benefits from a superb location with excellent views. The rooms are spacious, air conditioning fine, beds comfortable and terraces with great views.
You can eat dinner up on the eighth floor with dizzying views all round: food is good but on the pricey side for Setubal.
I found breakfasts to be excellent, with the ever-attentive Pepe a great host. "Anything you want, I will bring it!"
Very reasonable prices for the quality of hotel.

Hotel in need of some refurbishment, but with a huge terrace with fantastic views over the sea and the city. Breakfast buffet with scope for improvement, particularly in the variety. It has interesting kids club and free parking inside the hotel. The triple room is large with efficient cleaning. The staff is very attentive.

good quality, contemporary hotel. the perfect base both for exploring the Serra region, discovering the wine route or visting Setubal city and the estuary. Very spacious room with a nice terrace overlooking the Sado-river. And the hotel's top floor restaurant gives a magnificent 360 degree view from the hills over the city centre all the way down to the river ! Great.
Good location for business and pleasure. While you can have your business contacts in one of the various meeting rooms, your family can enjoy the region. Only the addition of a plunge pool or jacuzzi on the (enormous) terrace could make it even better.
