This was our 3rd stay at Quinta do Vento. It is a great house, big enough to accommodate four adults and four kids with space to spare. Lovely big kitchen and wonderful terrace for lunch and dinner overlooking the beautiful scenery which is perfectly situated to watch the sun go down. The pool was warm and there's plenty of space for the children to run around. Setubal is 10/15 minutes away by car and is a good local town with some good fish restaurants and amazing covered market selling bread, cheese, fruit/veg, fish and meat. The beaches are gorgeous and can be reached easily by car. Highly recommended and we're already planning our trip back next year...
A wonderfully beautiful house, beautifully beautiful with olive groves, windmills and far away on the horizon a castle and also a pitoresque town.
Good spaces with many bedrooms and a lovely kitchen and very large well-appointed lounge areas.
Wonderful pool.
Setubal a lovely town with fine restaurants, pitoresque alleys and a beautiful mix of old and new. In addition, good shops for food and drink.
Quickly accessible by car from the flight.
A trip to "Quinta do Vento" as a destination can certainly be recommended
We stayed at Quinta do Vento, near Setubal for a week with three adults and four children through HomeAway.com From start to finish we had a great experience. All the e-mail communication to book the house and pay the deposit were easy and the agent was really helpful with questions we had. We were met at the house by another agent who was very helpful in touring us around the house and telling us more about the area and where to go – she was also available by phone during the week to help on any questions about the house.
The house was in a wonderful location in a very secluded spot up in the hills, about a 12-15 minute drive from the town of Setubal and was down a little lane and had a fantastic 360 view over the hills and attached vine-yard – which was the perfect setting to watch the sun set. The house had no near neighbours, the grounds around the house were great for the children to run around in and both the garden and pool were clean and very well looked after. The house was spotless and had everything you would need especially in the well-stocked kitchen including a big table with benches – perfect for large friends/family meals – and a spacious front room for evening relaxing. We spent most of our time outside so didn’t watch any TV (a small one not a big screen) or surf the internet much – because of its location the internet connection wasn’t always very quick so if you’re after a peaceful location with minimal interruptions from neighbours or the outside world, this is the place for you.
Setubal is the closest town with traditional tiled streets and square and a fantastic fresh fruit/vegetable/meat/fish market right next to Pingo Doce supermarket – a small sized supermarket stocking pretty much all that you need. For a hyper-market sized supermarket plus more modern retail shops Jumbo shopping centre was also about 12-15 minutes from the house. There were beautiful beaches further along the coast and by ferry to Troia – take the car and drive to the miles-long beautiful white sandy beach – which was pretty empty at the time of year we went (end of May). There was another village close by the house called Palmelo which we didn’t make it to but looked like it was worth an explore from the view on our hill. Lisbon is only a 40 minute car ride away and there is a train from Setubal if you wanted to do a day trip.
We really enjoyed our stay at Quinto do Vento and are already talking about returning next year to explore more of the area – a week is not enough!

We stayed at Quinta do Vento for nine days from the end of September just as the weather warmed up following days of torrential rain. We were blessed with beautiful sunshine almost every day, enabling most of our party of six to enjoy the pool. The villa itself is stunning and beautifully furnished. Five bedrooms and three bath/shower rooms to choose from, plus an extra wc. Massive kitchen and lounge, and a smaller, comfortable room which we called the quiet room, just for reading or snoozing. The house is surrounded by vineyards and the views from the back over the countryside are beautiful. The nearest town, Setubal, has a quaint shopping area but this took some finding. There are the usual supermarkets but not much in the way of attractions, We had lunch in Sesimbra and walked along the beach, but found it it a little underwhelming. Another day we visited Troia but again it wasn't particularly appealing, probably because it was out of season. If you stay at this delightful villa you will most definitely need a car, and I would recommend you go over to Lisbon and visit one or two of the old towns like Alfama, the churches, cathedrals and castles, then spend a day in Sintra. Otherwise just relax in the peace and tranquillity that is Quinta do Vento. The service we received from start to finish was faultless and I would recommend the villa without hesitation.
