Owner description: Praia D'El Rey is arguably one of the most stunning golf courses in Europe. It's set among extensive pine forests and undulating dunes, with spectacular views over the Atlantic and the Berlengas Islands beyond. The 18-hole golf course was designed by the renowned American golf architect Cabell B.Robinson and was inaugurated on 14th June 1997. Deep bunkers, sloping greens and sandy dunes contrast sharply with the lush fairways, making it the complete golfing challenge.Praia D'El Rey is rated amongst the top golf courses in Europe by Golf World Magazine and is one of Portugal's major golfing destinations for both private and sponsored events. The course is a mixture of seaside links and parkland holes with a par of 73, offering the golfer a unique experience. Players are required to have a valid golf handicap certificate. Minimum handicap requirements are men 36, ladies 36.Enjoy your game!

“A great course with stunning views of the Atlantic”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

It is very much a tail of two halves. You start off more in the woods on the front nine and then switch over to the sea views. The course is in excellent condition and all elements are extremely well maintained. It was a really good challenge for all of us who are mid to high handicap golfers.

The course is famous for its Atlantic Ocean views good quality gold course worth a visit and playing a few times the caddy master and staff pretty poor or would even go to rubbish, however marshals around course very good.

“relaxing place to visit”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

We stayed here in an apartment for a week in August. We didn't play golf but used the driving range and putting green a few times. The resort is the best in the area with a fully operational hotel,The Marriot, Restaurants and a gorgeous beach that is lovely to walk along.
The restaurants on site are very good. We had dinner at the clubhouse. Toasted sandwich chips etc which was very nice. The very large terrace is nice and there is also a smarter restaurant there. There is a new restaurant called Argento which is close to the beach. It serves Italian food(and also a great breakfast) It has an amazing terrace with a great view of the beach. We booked a table on the terrace for dinner one night, best to book if you want to sit outside and enjoy the sunset. It was a gorgeous evening when we went. They also have free wifi!
The weather isn't always great on the silver coast as they have something of a micro climate there but you don't have to go far for sun. We hired a car from Lisbon airport so went to Peniche to walk along the beautiful beach where there are big supermarkets and also great beach coffee shops that are incredibly reasonable. 2Euros for 2 coffees. Its a great beach for watching the surfers, both beginners and pro's.
We did a day trip to Alcobaca which has a monastery and a lovely square. A great place to buy Portuguese Tiles. We also went to Nazare to see the site of the 100 foot wave! Its good to go up the Funicular to Promontorio do Sitio to get amazing views of the coastline.
We went round some of the other golf resorts in the area but this one is definitely the best as it is finished and fully operational and has been for many years. The grounds and pools are very well looked after.
