The village is wonderful, but a bit too crowded. Lots of tourists during the day, but quiet at night. Very well preserved. It was great to walk in the old streets.

Small village with quaint stores, beautiful flowers and
old castle. Worth the visit. Great for picture taking. Easy to
park your car and walk around.

We stopped here for just a couple hours in the midst of a drive from Sintra to Porto. It's one of those places that's so charming it has to be filled with rourists, and it is. Nonetheless, we were glad we stopped here, first and formost because it was fun to try the ginja. In fact, we each had two. Without the tourists, I would give it six stars.

Obidos Village has preserved its medieval town wall with a castle (parador) in the centre. You can walk atop the ramparts.

The tour of the ramparts is free. Sadly no guided tours, audioguides or guidebooks are available.

Be careful up there. The wall is not all that wide and there are no railings.

Based nearby, it was inevitable that we would visit Obidos. We knew to expect castle, city walls, aged churches etc. Although rather touristy and attracting hoards of bus party visitors, the town manages to retain quite a bit of charm, and proved surprisingly peaceful when we moved away from the obvious tourist traps.
