Found Casa D'Obidos by chance and what a lucky find. Period mansion furnished in appropriate style but with all the modern requirements met. Warm welcome with cakes and port! Lovely breakfast. Easy walk through orchards to local restaurants where there is good quality food at reasonable prices. Town of Obidos is also and easy and pleasant walk away. Would love to have stayed longer.

Room Tip: All equally good with separate apartments in adjacent cottages for larger groups

We stayed for just one night and it was not enough. We need to stay three the next time we are in this area with our clients. As professional tour guides, we stay in hotels, inns and upscale B&Bs approximately 180 nights per year. Casa d'Obidos met and exceeded our expectations. We had the large cottage, the former wine pressing room, and our clients had the little cottage next door to us. We had a full kitchen, and so after having had a large and very good lunch in Obidos we decided to just have a cold dinner of coldcuts, cheese, bread and of course, wine in our cottage that evening. The manager, Mariane, was so lovely. She built a fire for us in the lounge upstairs in the main building, as it was a chilly evening. This was a special request of mine that was met with a smile. We also had some port near the fire, and it was such a fine memory for all of us. We played a little billiards, poorly, but it was fun! We chatted with other guests from England, Denmark and Portugal. It was a fine evening, we slept like babies, had a lovely breakfast served by Mimi and her staff, with Mariane the manager (who has been running things for the past two years) checking to make certain that everything was OK. I had no problems with the internet, it worked perfectly in the small front lounge nearest the entrance. And, I was able to pay with my Visa card, no problems. We will definitely return with clients in the near future.

Room Tip: We loved our spacious two-level cottage, it is very private and has a well-equipped kitchen complete with dish washer. Bed is a king-size and very comfortable. I took a nap on the little single bed upstairs and loved that, right near the window, so cozy and comfortable.

The Casa lies just outside of Obidos- an easy 10 minute walk into the town but very quiet with beautiful views of the castle and walls. Excellent restaurant (Villa Infanta) within 5 mins - no point in eating in Obidos - much cheaper and less touristy. Breakfast was really good, excellent staff.
We stayed in the little cottage Casa Teresinha which was comfortable and allowed us to eat in as it had a small kitchen area. The only negative is that the shower needs updating - it was a bit small and challenging to use. Be warned - no shampoo provided.

We stayed 2 nights in April.

The interior of the manor house was very tastefully furnished; from the bedroom, guest lounge to the breakfast room. Every piece of furniture and fabric seemed to be carefully selected.

Guests will probably need a car as the castle was about a 15-20 min walk (mostly uphill away),

The staff was very good and Marianna was always helpful and obliging. If only Casa Obidos could provide a kettle in the room or the guest lounge. Having said that Marianna and her colleagues were always obliging when we asked for a pot of tea or a cup of coffee when we came back from our sightseeing.

Breakfast in the nicely furnished breakfast room was excellent. Very good spread with plenty to eat. Guests sit around a huge common table.

Highly recommended.

We stayeded two nights at this lovely manor house, full of rustic charm. Marianne was extremely welcoming and helpful, her restaurant recommendations were spot on. Our room had a great view of the castle and was an easy 10 minute walk to city centre but still so quiet and peaceful at night. The guest common room was comfortable with a roaring fire. perfect for sitting in front of whilst sipping a glass of port. The breakfast had a varied selection of meats, cheeses, bread and all sorts of yummy sweet pastries to choose from. We would recommend this place and would happily stay again.
