My brother and I were invited to Villa Vista for a couple of nights. We had the upstairs floor all to ourselves, separate rooms with a veranda that joined them. Perched high up in the hills with farmland to your left and right, and the beach in sight below you, it's an amazing location. You're hard-pressed to find something this private and familiar this close to the great beaches of Ericeira. It's a wonderfully quiet yet convenient alternative to the touristy alternatives. Plus, Colin and Liz are great. They give you as much access or distance as you want. In our case, Colin tipped us off to a local festival and even invited us to a friendly badminton match, which we gladly accepted. The rest of the time, we were on our own with private access to their gated estate and all the riches of the area around them. It hit all the marks for us: clean, friendly, quiet, convenient, very comfortable beds and furniture, private, informative, and breath-taking. It was so nice, we decided to stay an extra night. These are exactly the kinds of properties I try to find - those that give you a feel for what it might be like to be living there, not just hoteling there. Villa Vista offers you that. It's a gem.
