“Good honest portuguese food priced right”
Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

Good honest portuguese food priced right for the zone. Friendly service, homemade simple tastes, good value, you could do much worse around the area.

“We had the time of our lives!”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

We had the best time at Sinal Vermelho! The small restaurant was alive with people and great music. Our sweet Portugese waiter who spoke English with a charming Liverpool accent was wonderful. He made great recommendations on food, wine and port. The salted cod dish with little fried potatoes on top was excellent. To top it off, our waiter let us be to simply enjoy the evening. Constant attention from waiters is really overrated! Definitely the best meal we had on our Portugal trip and one of my best life experiences.

“The bill”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Hello, today we visited the restaurant .
Ten people.
Before the meal we were served bread, butter and cheese as is customary at a restaurant in Portugal. we found that forced us price equal to the price entree. The waiter was supposed to let us know what is the price before putting them on the table without being asked for.
We left feeling bad.

“Great on our first night”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

We had been recommended this place by a friend who had lived in Lisbon and used to go to this restaurant as a regular. Good traditional food, really relaxed atmosphere and right in the middle of Barrio Alto so it was great for our first taste of Lisbon. Our waiter was great, unfortunately we don't remember his name but he was really friendly and welcoming. We didn't really know what to have as it was our first night so we went with his recommendations on both food and wine and were not disappointed. The sardines (we were there in the middle of the festival) were fantastic, great value for the price. If you are after traditional simple food this is a great place.

“Traditional Portuguese Food”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

We asked a group of locals where to eat and they recommended this restaurant. It is a small and somewhat cramped place and a little noisy with a mix of locals and tourists. As there were 3 of us we were seated at a table with two others. We all tried different local dishes one shrimp, one veal and other was a whitefish with onions. All were excellent flavors and good size portions. For desert their specialty is chocolate cake which is unlike any cake I have had before. You must try it so save room for it. Wine was reasonable priced and we had a bottle recommend by our table companions.
