“6 years coming to Lisbon - Nowhere better than here”

The only thing better than the atmosphere and staff attitude is the food which we have discovered comes from a man with a passion for flavour who is not afraid to try anything. Flavours that don't normally hang out together bond in a unique way to create a taste experience that brings you back if only to see what he's going to try next. His partner fronts the service end and she uses her marketing experience to ensure that the customer is spoilt. There really is a sense of membership of a club with this Restaurant. The interior gives a feeling of warmth as well as being perfect for a business meeting or a romantic evening. At this point we no longer look at the menu we simply say please feed us and they are also kind enough to select the appropriate wine to go with the dish. The only thing that surprised us was how good value it was. In Ireland we would expect to pay at least 50% more for this experience. We have booked to eat here every night of our stay. Enough said

“Loved atmosphere, service, romantic, good food”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

You have to go here. We found it on trip advisor and booked a table. We were greeted with a complimentary glass of prosecco and shown to our table. Tables are spread out well and even though there was a very large group of men it was quiet, and had a great atmosphere. We were in the garden which is very pretty.
Food and wine was great and service excellent. They arranged for a taxi when we were leaving and we alo got a lovely going away gift which was a nice touch.
Well done to the staff and thank you for a lovely night.

“A Lisbon must!”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Clube de Jornalistas is an absolute treasure. Because our first evening was so delicious and pleasant we returned on our swing back through Lisbon and were equally impressed. Both inside and out, the restaurant is stylish but comfortable. Inside, it’s old typewriters, dark wood jewel-tone walls. The large candle lit patio is surrounded by trees and greenery and a table holding everyone’s bottles of wine. Every staff member was gracious and informative. And now for the food! I had the prawn “Moqueca” risotto, which was superb. On the second visit I had a beautifully prepared Thai salmon. My husband loved both his Iberian Black Pork. The gentleman next to us was so effusive about his steak that the owner brought the whole kitchen staff out to hear the praise. It’s just a great vibe and it’s clear that the two generous owners and their entire team are committed to creating a special experience for their customers. Clube de Jornalistas is a short cab ride from Bairro Alto, Chiado and well worth it!

“Romantic, good service and good food.”
Reviewed September 23, 2013 via mobile

We just arrived home after our Best experience of dining in Lissabon. We were lucky to et a table at the journalist on a monday Night after trying both Saturday and sunday without luck. So book in advance. The waiter met us with a glas of champagne on the house and showed us to the absolutely beautiful and romantic garden behind the athmospheric restaurant. A hidden gem behind an anonymous facade. The food was good, especially the Desert. The main dish (we both ordered digferent style of risotto) was notning special - a bit boring actually, but all the rest about this experience was just fantastic. Highly recommendable!

“A great find!”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

lovely food. Very friendly staff. Interesting location with a beautiful garden to seek refuge from the sun. Like a little oasis. Free champagne whilst we perused the lunch menu. A Delicious starter of fresh bread and oil/ balsamic. We then enjoyed mains - seafood was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious. The dessert was homemade ice cream (pennyroyal) that despite being of subtle flavour I am craving again now. This is a working journalists club rather thana bit of history which I think makes it all the more interesting. And the door is locked upon arrival so be sure to ring the ell. Note the place is deceptive from the exterior - it doesn't look much - but once inside I found the place yo be very charming!
