We started our tour of Belem in the morning, and saved our visit to Pasteis de Belem for breakfast. When you arrive, there are likely to be long lines on the street waiting to order the pastries. Just bypass the line and go directly inside. There are several rooms with tables and table service, but you may have to hover over someone who is getting ready to leave so you can get a table. It is worth sitting down to enjoy the custard tarts. They are served warm from the oven. There are also loads of other pastries to try. The custard tarts here are the best I tasted while in Lisbon. We then walked to the monestary across the street, to the Tower of Belem on the waterfront, and around other Belem sites. It is definitely worth the trip for these tarts.
