“Nice,warm small cake”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

This restaurant is very famous of their cakes.Easily to find at the main street in Belem. You can be sure there is always a queue outside however it is going quite fast.Cakes are very good but you can eat similar in many other places.

“Delicious culinary experience!!”
Reviewed February 2, 2013 via mobile

Great food! Transparency and famous, delicious, custard pies! Always crowded! :) quite impressed about the size of it. Was expecting something smaller. Resemblances somehow a labirint.
You MUST try it, if in Lisbon!

“Best and oldest in town!”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

here you should have a typical Portuguese custard tart pastel de nata), just out of the oven with a coffee (bica!). This is The Place and supposedly the original and first producer of these tarts and you may find around Lisbon other pastry shops selling these pies. But this is sid to The one and only.

“The original Pasteis in a tradicional environment”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

These are the original pasteis and many years after their creation they are still amazing!
Although the place attracts a lot of tourists you will still find a lot of locals eating here.
The Pasteis de Belém are best when still warm but this is no problem since they make pasteis all day so they always are.
It's nice to stay inside in one of the many different rooms they have or to take your Pasteis de Belém and eat them in the Belém gardens in front, if the weather is nice.

“Decent”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

We tried this place back in June 2012, we had read the reviews that this was the best place to go for the famous pastries. We went to the Belem Tower also because it was nearby. Service was good, we tried a couple of pastries and they were alright, I heard that sometimes, there is a line to get in, there wasn't for us and now that I have tried them I probably wouldn't wait in line for them If I wanted them. I tried other pastries in town and couldn't tell the difference.
