Booked this apartment solely for the use of the terrace after sightseeing but when we arrived, found out that June is the festival month for St Antony! The apartment is right in the thick of it, so if you wanted a quiet time, try somewhere else than Alfama. We loved just falling out of the front door and being in the weekend street parties. The team managing the apartment were first class, nothing was too much trouble and the apartment itself was all that was to be expected - well equipped, clean and tidy
Be aware : 1) Alfama is very hilly with little traffic - you have to walk up & down slopes everywhere so good footwear is essential; 2) The main bed in the apartment is 5 foot wide in a 5 foot 2 inch wide bedroom
If you want to enjoy the feel of Alfama this is a wonderful pick. You are right within walking distance to so many of the cultures. e felt very safe going out at any time. The beds were extremely comfortable , and the view on the top deck was spectacular.
If you've been won over by the many benefits of self catering and like the atmosphere of Al Fama, this is a great place to stay. Location is great - easy walking distance to Santa Apollonia metro and not much further to the main stations. There is a bakery virtually next door and a mini market 2 mins walk away for essential provisions. Lots of good, reasonably priced restaurants nearby mean there is no real need to cook but all the facilities are there if you want to. The flat is very well equipped and the owners are on hand with travel advice, taxi transfers and general assistance. The final word has to go to the flat's terrace with spectacular views of the Tagus and its river traffic - who can put a price on drinks there as the sun goes down reflecting on a day in the wonderful city of Lisbon?
