This hostel-style hotel is in a less popular but nevertheless practical part of Lisbon, 2 minutes' walk from the Intendente metro stop. The staff are friendly and helpful, though in our experience you have to make the first move to engage with some of them.

Rooms are basic, but for us were clean and moderately comfortable - the en suite in our room was simple and worked fine.

Breakfast wouldn't be worth paying more for, but keeps you going to a decent coffee shop!

So, if paying £20-25 a head, it's not bad - but not fair to compare it with a 3* hotel.

Room Tip: Take an en-suite - and if stairs are an issue, get a low floor as there's no lift.

Stayed for four days. Receptionist do not bother to say good morning. If you want a new handkerchief you must pay. Breakfastroom with noisy television, warm glasses for juice. All in all very poor. The bed are making more sound that you can believe. I never book this hotel again, stay away!!!

When we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist ( Adilson) was most helpful, and as our rooms werent ready to go into as yet, he helped us with our luggage and ensuring they were secure until we could get into our rooms. The free complimentary breakfasts filled a small whole, consisting of coffee....orange juice...cereal...and two rolls with a cheese spread and a jam to use one each. The roof gardens of the hotel are a wonderful escape from the hussle of the city..and was used for eveing reads and drinks, to great effect!...especially the hammock!...bliss! Make sure , if wanted/needed, that you book the rooms with a private bathroom, as most come with shared facilities. The private bathrooms were large and modernised. A lovely 3 day stay in a beautiful City!

Room Tip: make sure you ask for a private bathroom if wanted, on booking...as most come with shared facilities...

Me and four friends booked a large room with seperate beds & ensuite bathroom for 5 nights. We only stayed 3 once we found out the room was infested with BEDBUGS! Two of my friends woke up covered in bites on there arms and legs. We found the matterass and skirting board full of bugs. We asked for a full refund but they only agreed on refunding 2 nights. The staff was horrible and very unprofessional insinuating that we brought the bugs and telling us that we were overreacting.

Apart from the bedbugs the hostel is located in a very dodgy area. The cleanliness of the hostel was sub standard and the rooms are VERY NOISY since the walls and doors seem to be paper thin. Oh and the breakfast was disgusting!!!

This was truly the worst hostel experience I've ever had!
Yet Lisbon remains one of the coolest cities in Europe.

This was one of the worst hostels or guest houses that i have ever stayed in.

A group of 3 had booked 3 separate rooms.

we arrived at 9 pm when we got their the guy at the desk had advised me that my card had been declined and that i was lucky that he had not cancelled the reservation.

I advised him that i had lost my wallet the previous week and had cancelled my credit card but thanked him for not canceling the reservation.

This is when it went down hill.

He then advised that he could see my 2 friends bookings but the paperwork had not come through on one of the bookings.

After about 20 mins wait at reception he came back and advised that he had a solution.

That we all had to stay in one room for one night & for the other 3 days we will have our own room.
so out of the 3 rooms we had booked we had one.

we asked what happened to the other 2 rooms he advised their was a infestation of bugs in the 2 rooms. and that they can not use those 2 rooms.

we should of said goodbye at this stage but my friends had already paid in advance for their rooms.

We went to the room where all 3 of us will stay and it was in the outdoor terrace where if you read prior reviews people sit out and relax smoke and drink.

our room was like a garden shed in the garden with 4 beds and no towels.

the noise from people in the garden was to loud and we found it very hard to sleep.

the next afternoon they did provide us with 3 rooms.

these rooms where basic the bathrooms had issues with the shower heads and water flowing every where.

The issue with these rooms was that they where on the 1st floor and you could hear everyone walking past it sounded like a herd of elephants would pass when more than 2 walked past your room or went up or down the stairs.

it was just way to noisy you will not get a good nights sleep.

so when we where checking out we advised that the 1st night we where not paying full price for a shared shed/room out in the garden.

We thought this would be a fair solution but they where not having any of it.
after a heated conversation of over 30 mins they agreed to refund my friends 15 euros each and i had to pay full price as he claims my booking was cancelled even though he told me at the start it was not.
This hostel but a complete damper on the lisbon experience my advise STAY AWAY.

The hostel had very good breakfast. Basic, but not dull. The room was clean and had a washbasin and a bidet. The shared bathroom wasn't always super clean. Our room was quiet and it wasn't very hot. We LOVED the outdoors terrace on upper floor, spent there some time. The neighborhood wasn't very fancy, we didn't feel super safe, but nothing bad happened. Hostel is super close to subway and we travelled a lot. But you can also walk from the city center if not tired from sightseeing :)
Near the subway station we found big convenience store where we used to purchase tons of delicious tomatoes and nectarines. Shopkeeper was nice and spoke a little english. He was the only eager one to change big euro note when we needed change.
The only bad thing I have to say that in 2008 the wifi wasn't free and the price was outrageously high.

Just booked the hotel and a flight a few days in advance. After a 10 minute walk from the city center I got to the right place. Regular, not too exciting neighborhood but with a good subway connection, a few small shops and a supermarket near.
The hotel itself was great, nice interior, classic touch, awesome garden and a great room (206, with an on-suit bathroom). Clean room, fan and heater, clean sheets and towels (shampoo/soap). Mattress was a bit harsh, but ok. No noise from the neighbors. The breakfast was of exceptable quality, but the staff made up for the shortcomings!
All in al, very good hotel, especially for that price.

Room Tip: Choose a room with an on-suit bathroom! If you can, get a room on the second floor, that is where th...
