This isn't a normal hostel full of backpackers and bunk beds, but more like a private flat with 5 rooms (mix of double and single) with a shared bathroom with 2 showers and 2 toilets. So its very quiet and good if you want some peace and quiet within Lisbon. Be warned the hostel is up a short steep hill (if you approach from the nearest metro station) and then on the 3rd floor with no lift, and on the cobbled, uneven streets its hard work with a large suitcase. Very friendly staff, happy to help and give advice on what to see and how to get there. Shower and toilet cubicles are very small, and there is only one sink.
Easily walkable down into the main part of the old town in about 15 minutes, but also handy for the metro. Breakfast was included and fairly basic, but a nice surprise given the low prices for the rooms. Would recommend if you want a clean, good quality, quiet hostel and don't mind sharing bathroom facilities.

Next to subway stations, big room, excellent staff, goog breakfast. The neighborhood is a little bit awkward, does not hace an elevator and the worst is the size of the showers' area, too too tiny, almost imposdible to move when you're inside of it with the door closed.

My stay at Albergo Odisseo was nothing short of fabulous! The place is clean (and I am very difficult when it comes to cleanliness). The rooms are great and the staff was amazing! They would advise us on the places to eat, listen to live music and go dancing. Although it is situated on top of a hill, once your luggage is up there it's easy to travel. Well situated, I will definitely stay there if I travel to Lisbon again!

This hotel/hostel was perfect for us. Unlike your usual hostel it only has a few rooms (5 i think) with twin or double beds and it is a relaxed peaceful place. It's not for those who want to party and meet loads of new people but if you want the peacefulness of a hotel with excellent service and local knowledge but on a budget this is perfect. I stayed there with my boyfriend and other custermers were freinds - old and young and other couples.

There is a kitchen and living room area to use and internet facilities, including free wifi. The bathroom is shared but it is clean and there are 2 toilets and 2 showers which is ample for the small number of rooms they have. They bedroom was clean and fresh and airy with a modern lovey individula design feel. There was lockers in the room for your valubles too.

It is within a 15-20 minute walk to the downtown area and also to the nightlife area which was brilliant and also a 5 minute walk to the metro and the bus stop that takes you to the airport.

It is up at the top of a VERY steep hill (though Lisbon is quite a hilly city!) so if you have trouble climbing up steep streets then this could be an issue but aprt from that it was a brilliant choice for budget accomodation.

Abergo Odisseo could not have been better. Brother and sister Frederico and Vanessa make you feel right at home from the moment you enter the door. The hostal was impeccably clean and the staff consistently went out of their way to accommodate.

Would absolutely stay here again.

Make sure you print out a map before you go, the exact building location took a few minutes to find.

So this place has changed names and is not listed on Trip Advisor as having changed to Albergo Odisseo.

I understand that Lisbon has a lot of terrific hostels and this one is no exception. We would like to have had a private bath, but they kept it very clean so it wasn't ever an issue. The hosts were brilliant and extremely friendly. Each day we came out of our room with a map and they were always happy and excited to share advice and thoughts on what to do and where to go. Absolutely the friendliest hosts we have ever had and we have had some very good ones in places like Ireland, Germany and Italy.

The big drawback is the location: It is located at the top of a very steep hill so it can be a struggle to get up with luggage. But then again, most of Lisbon is on a hill so you can't complain too much. It is also just off the main shopping avenue and very close to underground stops and an airport bus stop.

We had the corner room at the end of the hall and it was terrific - with windows on two sides so lots of light and a great breeze that blew through at night. You will need ear plugs if you keep the windows open at night and are a light sleeper ut it is much less loud than if you were staying in Barrio Alto.

We will definitely be returning to Lisbon. I don't know if we will be returning here but if our budget is the same, we will likely be at Albergo Odisseo.
