“Fantastic-everything, the best hostel I've been to!”

The people were VERY helpful and fun..the hostel just had a great atmosphere in addition to the great design itself! The breakfast in the morning was great and three times a week a "portugese mom" comes and cooks dinner, for 5 euro is a great deal! We had a fabulous time in Lisbon and Oasis Backpackers Mansion can take credit for it! :)

We stayed at this hotel in July 2009 for a few nights, in one of the rooms of the annex a little outside of the main building. They have dorms and double rooms. Our room was small but beautifully decorated, in a house also nicely decorated. You get access to an almost private living room and kitchen as there are only 5 or 6 rooms in this annex, maximum.
That was an excellent surprise. We still went to the main building where they have a bar and restaurant, which serves delicious family food for a bargain.
The hotel is ideally situated to wander around in Lisboa.
And it's also really cheap.
Perfect place, would definitely come back !

They have a serious bedbug problem. We noticed it the first night and they moved us to another part of the hotel. Same thing in the second room. After two nights, we had to check out. The receptionist was very apologetic and the hotel refunded us two thirds of the cost of the rooms. They definitely tried to do the right thing by us, but bugs are bugs.

On the positive side, the location was awesome. Easy to get to everything. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was quite noisy, but that's to be expected in a youth hostel.

This place was a little hard to get to from the airport, but is lovely once you are there. Unlike most hostels, it was not purpose built and has the character of an old mansion. It is clean. The staff could not do enough to help us. They have managed to set up a really nice atmosphere which is relaxed and sociable amongst all the guests. I would definitely recommend this hostel for anyone travelling to Lisbon.

we had two of our party stay here as there were no twin rooms at casa do bairro down the road. we took the only twin which they don't usually rent due to the noise factor as it's right by the entrance/reception but i think the rest of the rooms upstairs are much quieter. regardless, we want to give this place a very positive review. the hostel is completed rehabbed, the rooms are spotless with new beds, immaculate bedding and brand new bathrooms. if you are not bothered about sharing or if there are enough of you to take a whole dorm room, this place is worth it. if you're on a budget, they have home-made meals you can sign up for each night for 5 euros, including veggie options. if you are a flexible traveller and can handle the "young" atmosphere then this place is the excellent value for money. spotless kitchen, free wi-fi and computer use, lovely patio area and right by the panoramic viewing area of santa catarina. walking distance to all sights, santa catarina is great, much nicer than bairro alto and 2 mins from it. what you get for what you pay here is phenomenal, if it wasn't for the dorm rooms this place would rank higher than lots of the pensions in lisbon. very highly recommended with the caveat that it has few private rooms so may not be suitable for everyone.

there was a warm and friendly atmosphere. the staff was helpfully, enthusiastic and enjoying to take care of the visitors. the facilities with a big dining room, the outdoor bar and the living room in connection with the breakfast and the offered dinner for a small price invited to stay at "home". arriving with the car it was quite impossible to find the hostel but the location was perfect to explore the city by foot.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Oasis Hostel in Lisbon is a hostel in the real sense of the word. A hostel should be a hostel. We don't think that it should be a boutique hotel designed by Philippe Stark. A hostel should be cheap and in the best location of the city, within walking distance of everything worth seeing. A hostel should have staff that go out of their way for every traveller, not because we want better ratings but because it is what good people do. Besides having free wi-fi, lockers, and other standard services, a hostel should be clean, and most importantly a hostel should be cool but in the classic sense of the word like Mickey Rourke or Paul Newman, unique in personality that never goes out of style. A Hostel, more than a place to sleep should be a place that helps you feel what it's like to actually live in a city and not just stay in it. Our local and international staff are all Lisbon Lovers and use their wealth of information and personalities to show you their Lisbon with their eyes. We have activities, led by our staff that will let you truly come to know Lisbon and those who make it special. From local food tours, street art tours, all day adventures to experiences that guide books fear and tourists rarely see, our activities will leave you feeling Portuguese. Above all, a hostel should be social. In Oasis Lisbon Hostel with our bar, dinners and special events we go out of our way to make sure that we are the place to meet other interesting travelers to share your experiences with and if sometimes you wake up with a hangover as a token of our hospitality, all the better. Oasis Hostels are good for you! ... more   less
