This place is above average for the price I think. The internet worked fine. The room was clean and surprisingly quiet given it's right over the subway. The staff were friendly but the key thing(see previous revue) was a bit strange, can't they just cut two keys??

Room Tip: Choose a room on the lowest floor if you can, the stairs are strangely energy sapping.

For the price, this was pretty good. The room was clean, and I appreciated having my own shower. I didn't have a problem with noise from other guests; there was some noise from the street, but nothing awful. The people running things were friendly and helpful. Overall, by my standards, this place was acceptable.
Things that may be a dealbreaker for someone else: The neighborhood isn't dangerous, but it isn't great either- homelessness was visible, but I never felt threatened. The green metro line is less than ideal for a tourist (blue would have been better). The hotel is on the 2nd and 3rd (or 3rd and 4th, if you're American) floor of an apartment building: the steps were steep and frankly, dark and dirty, unlike the rooms. Once, I left something in my room, and I decided it wasn't worth the four flights of stairs to go get it. I was also required to turn in my key every time I left, which I found strange.

Room Tip: Please see the photo for what a shower in the room looks like. It has a shower, a sink, and a bidet...

Easy to find the hotel if you get off at Intendente metro stop. Literally just in front of the door. You have to leave your key with the owners every time you leave and they are available to open the door at any time for you. For a hostel style place I felt very safe, the family live within the building and each floor is also locked so random people cannot get in. Felt very safe. Some people mention in their reviews that the street outside was "rough" however I apart from some slightly dodgy looking locals hanging around, no one bothered you and Ive personally seen a lot rougher places.

Clean towels and bed sheets every day. Shared bathrooms clean. The location is excellent. The infamous tram 28 (be aware of pick pockets!) takes you on a nice tour around the city.

The only negative I have to mention is the stairs! Residencial Roxi is based on the 2nd and 3rd floor but in total to reach the 3rd floor is 6 flights of stairs and is hard work. I would recommend that you email and request the 2nd floor if you have a problem with this as there is no lift. This would not stop me returning but I would be worried if I had anyone elderly or children with me or lots of luggage.

The owners a quite friendly if you need anything they are willing to help, but they are not intrusive and will leave you to get on with your trip. They don't speak English but luckily my boyfriend is French and they spoke very good French.

As other people have mentioned, the streets are pretty noisy and as its warm you do need the window open. So earplugs may be needed if background noise bothers you. I personally enjoyed listening to the slight hustle and bustle of the locals and didn't affect my sleep.

Enjoy this place, Im sure we will be back

Oh PS must mention the bakery across the road, really cute local place with 1 euro coffee and fresh bread!! we loved it :-)

Room Tip: i would recommend 2nd floor as 3rd floor is hard work walking up every day. We shared a bathroom an...

Location is great and within walking distance of Castelo de Sao Jorge and metro station and tram stops right infront. The area around can be a bit rowdy late at night but the hostel is very safe. The bathrooms were clean and the room had a basin. No fan or air con though which can be quite inconvenient during Summer when your only option is to open the windows to the street noise. The street noise can be unbearable at certain times with all the honking on the street. The owners are nice and overall good place to stay for a few nights.

Reception 24/7.
3 stations from the city center "baixa".
Very friendly staff. Nice and comfortable place to stay. Maybe a bit noisy at night.
30 € per night for a double room with shared bathroom is adequate.

We spent a week as a family with two almost grown up kids in two rooms in this hotel and have no objections to anything. The rooms lived up to our expectations. They were small but very well maintained and had wifi. The hotel is located very close to downtown and all forms of public transportation as metro, tram, bus and so on. Although the neighborhood as in all other capital cities are characterized by many different people of different character and street noise, the hotel was safe and very well looked after by the host family. Everything was clean and tidy, and you could always go to the hosts with any requests. We would definitely use this hotel again, as we are more appreciative of authentical atmosphere than expensive luxury.
