Nothing beats a bicycle for seeing a new city - you can cover so much more ground than you can by walking, but you're not isolated from your surroundings the way you are in a car. The staff gave super directions and service - thanks to them, I was able to see the Tejo, plus get all the way to the Nautical museum and get to try some pastries that the city is famous for making. It took a little longer than I predicted, but the kind folks here didn't charge me extra for the extra time I was using the bike. Also, everyone I dealt with spoke English - which made the transactions easy for me, as I was trying to learn Portuguese on the fly.
