“Very Nice Hotel in the heart of newer Lisbon”
Reviewed August 17, 2011

Lisbon redid an area of the waterfront for the world Expo that was help there. With updated streets, wharves, train stations, malls and apartments, the place has a new feel within an old city. Hotel Olissippo Oriente is in this area, and it is very modern.

The lobby staff were very friendly, and the checkin process was smooth. The room was modern and clean with all the latest accessories. The room was quite and the curtains made the room dark at night, which allowed for a good sleep.

The breakfast was very good with a good selection of european and american foods. The checkout was simple and I was on my way quickly.

The hotel is within a short walking distance of many of the Expo sites and a metro ride into the old Lisbon. Altogether a great place to stay and I would go back.

I have stayed here before, i do prefer the tivoli across the road, but that was fully booked, however my Girlfriend prefers the Olissipo...so, swings and roundabouts ! In reality they are both very similar, price/style/location all the same !!! A big thumbs up for olissipo this time as they upgraded me to a suite with a separate lounge area, which was kind of them ! The staff here are very friendly and helpful, with excellent english. Rooms are very clean, stylishly furnished and modern. Breakfast is excellent with a vast choice. In comparison to other major cities in europe, you definately get value for money, a similar hotel in london, Rome or Paris would cost up to 4 times more, this i am sure of !!! I won't bore you any longer, just a small negative, and i am being picky here..they have a couple of computers downstairs for guest use, which you have to feed coins, but they don't have a printer, so absolutely useless with regards to printing out my boarding pass, had to look for an internet shop, and let me tell you that was a bit of a misson in Lisbon....in the heat !!! Phew...i was sweating like a barbecued pig, not funny !! That aside everything was great !! And Lisbon is A top, top City, recommend it to anyone !!!!

This hotel is in the "new area" of Lisbon, called expo '98. It appears to be an up and coming area. There is a big shopping mall with a movie theater as well as some restaurants, it is located directly across from the train/metro station. We stayed at this hotel because we wanted to get good value and be as close as possible to the train station. It was close enough to the train station to walk with our luggage, it was at max. a 5 min walk. With out the luggage it is more like 2-3 mins.
The hotel lobby is very nice, clean and modern. The rooms are also very nice but there was pen all marks on my pillow cases and stains all over the chair at the desk. Other than that the rooms were very clean. The bed were nice and big but also quite hard. The pillows were horrible. The were very lumpy and did not have much stuffing inside of them.
The restaurant at the hotel was great. The food was very good and the prices were quite reasonable. They also have a lovely outdoor patio. The breakfast was also very good. It had just enough selection that everyone should find something. The staff during breakfast were constantly replenishing all of the different items, from juice to warm croissants, They made sure thet they never ran out of everything.
This leads me to the staff at the hotel. They were all excellent. The waiters during breakfast and at the restaurant were always on top of things and the front counter was excellent! They gave us maps and helped us figure out how to get into the heart of town (which is very easy on the metro). Also the check in and out was a breeze!
Overall I was impressed with how many people spoke English, Most of the staff had no problem communicating with you, this also goes for most people in town. We loved the city of Lisbon (it is beautiful) and we would gladly stay at this hotel again!

Olissipo Oriente is located outside the center of Lisbon but in the Expo '98 park. It's a 5 minute walk to the railway/metro station. There is also a big shopping center nearby in case you need anything. You can get in the center of the town in about 20 minutes.

The hotel itself is good value for money. The breakfast is very good and the rooms are spacious. We went to this hotel for a citytrip but we can also recommend it for business trips.

I was here for just over a week for work and the hotel was very comfortable, the breakfasts were amazing (great selection) and the location was fabulous. I actually walked to the airport in less then half an hour to collect my partner when he arrived, and a main metro station and good sized shopping mall are just down the road

Staff were very helpful with our group and we used the meeting rooms, business services and had quite a few meetings at the bar

Not far from the airport and just cross the road from a major railway station, it's very convenient for all purposes. The service is the bar was somewhat slow given it wasn't busy at all. The staff are polite enoght but you feel they can do just a bit more. The buffet breakfast was not one of the best and the choices were limited.

We stayed at the Olissippo Oriente on our last day when coming back from traveling around Portugal and waiting to get a plane back home early the next morning. It was extremely convenient. The hotel is in the area of the expo 98, very update, nice neighborhood, next to the Casino, The Vasco da Gama mall, close to the bay and less than 2 miles from the airport. The room is very comfortable, the caveat is that for in room internet service you will need to have your own internet cable + internet fee; wireless only at the lobby + fee. Overall it was a very good option to be near the aiport.
