“Amazing Value & Cheapest Capital City In Europe For Public Transport”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2013

Buy the Viagem card for €0.50 at the airport (easy to buy from machines and all in English), top up with €5 or €10 and away you go on the cheapest transport system in Europe. Use on the local trains, trams, buses, metro for a great experience.€1.05 for trip with Viagem Card from Airport to City Centre is ridiculous!! Transport for London wake up! €10 lasted us 5 days and four nights no problem! Great Experience!

Beware of Tram 28 and the pick pocketers though! Reviewed elsewhere.

“Public transport in Lisbon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

Aerobus from Lisbon airport into city, including stops at main train stations, costs 3.50 Euros and very efficient. When we travelled this also gave you a 25% discount on tickets for the Yellow Bus Tours (not necessary to use on same day as the Aerobus) which is a great discount especially when Yellow Bus Tour tickets also include all other public transport for the day. (see more info below)

For easy and cheap travel around Lisbon buy a one day ticket for 6.50 Euros which includes all public buses, metro, trams and elevedores (including Gloria, Bica and Santa Justa) plus the famous Tram 28. Tickets for longer periods are available. Buy from newsagent kiosks near stations etc. Brilliant way to get around the city and you will definitely need to use some form of transport especially the elevedores as the hills are very steep. Individual journeys on elevedores cost 3.60 Euros so the day travel card is certainly worth the money.

If you plan to use the yellow bus tours (hop on and hop off service run by Carris, same company as trams and elevedores) the ticket you buy for that may include all of the above so get your yellow bus tour ticket first.

“I just had to go up”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

And I'm glad I took the funicular from Baixa. I would NEVER have made it up that hill. What on earth did they do in the olden days? It's just for the experience and it opens up the possibility of seeing a different part of Lisbon.

“Short but nice experience! (Ave de Gloria)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

Travelled on the funicular at Ave de Gloria. It was a short ride but a great experience for my kids! Cost €3.60 for each child but was inclusive on the yellow bus ticket for us adults! I tell you what - I walked the hill afterwards - wow! They needed that funicular! Very steep. Great views / gardens at the top and helped me find some great restaurants! Great experience - clearly an old and well used traditional funicular. Lovely.

“You can't do Lisbon without doing at least one tram ride!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

Was only in Lisbon for a day during a cruise and we booked a tram tour as our shore excursion.

Of the 3.5 hours touring Lisbon, over an hour was on two of Lisbon's most famous small yellow and white 'Remodelado' trams.

Our guides took us through the city over various routes and we saw a lot of Lisbon! We also had a snack on board of a glass of port with a Belem Pastry (Local type of caramalised custard tart) and the tram drivers really put their cars through their paces!!

You can't do Lisbon without doing at least one tram ride!!
