“The Impressive Architecture of the Belem Tower”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2014

This is an an outstanding and impressive tower done in the Manueline syle of architecture. It is situated on the Tagus River in Lisbon. We got here via tour bus. It is also near the statue to the explorers who are commemorated for their naval explorations during the Age of Discovery.

“Beautiful Tower”

Really pretty tower, loved the little sandy area. Amazing that it is still standing as the base is in the water.

“Belem visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2014

Delightful architecture, must see in Lisbon. Structure was vitally important as a defensive fort on the Tagus river 16th century (I think). Across the street is the Jeronimos monastery, making for a good morning tour.

“Torre de Belém”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2014

While in Lisbon make sure you take the time to walk along the river to see some of Lisbon's famous landmarks including Torre de Belém . As from http://a-perfect-escape.com/torre-de-belem/:

Torre de Belém also known as the Tower of St Vincent is a tower located on the bank of the Tagus River in Lisbon, Portugal. This tower was named a UNESCO World Heritage site for its role in the Portuguese maritime discovers and as it served as the gateway to Lisbon. The tower itself has been standing since the early 16th century and its four story tower is made from limestone.

Visit Tuesday – Sunday (Closed Mondays) 10 AM – 5 PM for 5 Euros or have free admission with the Lisboa Card. From here there are many museums and parks to explore.
