The tower looks great from the outside and this is it. If you go inside there is relay not much to see. First you have to pay a fee of 5,00€. In the lover part is a sort of exhibition (you need max 5 min to see everything). Than there is the tower. Well I almost loose my mind because of the staircase to the top. It is so narrow that people can either go up or down. You have a traffic light showing you what to do. But people ignore this and the staff doesn't care! it is horrible!! Once you managed to get to the top you can only stand in the line and wait do get down. It has taken 20 minutes for me to get into the staircase again. Don't recommend this for older people and people with some kind of disability.

The tower is not huge, but a unique experience. The view at the top of the tower is great, but to get there you have to go through a winding staircase that is only big enough for a single flow of people either up or down. They have a unique light traffic system for people with red and green arrows indicating who goes when and where.
Tips: For all attractions check opening & closing times to avoid disappointment. The Lisbon Card is very useful especially if you are in Lisbon for a few days. We purchased the 72 hour card and is was so convenient for all forms of transports as well as providing free or discounted entry into attractions. It paid for itself and we ended up marking significant savings overall.

The tower deserves a visit for its own sake (it is in the UNESCO cultural sites list) and for the views across the river from its top. We took a taxi to the tower from Rossio area (~8-10 euros). There is a fee for the tower, but it is free on Sundays. After visiting the tower walked on the river bank towards the city all the way to Ponte 25 de Abril. It was a very pleasant walk on a hot day. On the way, on the opposite side of the avenida there is Mosteiro dos Jeronimos - another beautiful Manueline building worth visiting. Under the Ponte there is a marina with many restaurants in it. We had dinner there, then took taxi to the hotel. That was a very nice day - culture, fresh air, a bit of exercise and great food.

Quaint, very busy pastry shop is devine! Try codfish, beef pastry and custard tarts they are famous for! Catch the tram no 15 from outside the pastry shop to get into lisbon central. Buy your transport green card and top up its good for trams and trains, easy transport around lisbon and beyond and cheap!

Very cool tower that is well preserved. Worth a visit, especially when paired with other sights in Belem. Make sure to climb to the top for a great view!
