“Hmm Belem pastries and beautiful buildings”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

Wow.. I like pastries but these are delicious! Belem Pastries are the original typical little pastries that you MUST try if you are in Lisbon.
Belem has also a lot of cultural things to see. Hire a bike and go there along the riverside from Lisboa. It's a half our ride and it's really nice!

You must try the pasteis de Belem, they are excellent! Wonderful town just a short train ride from the heart of Lisbon, home to the most delicious custards on the planet.

“See it on the Way to the Monastery”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

Definately a Lisbon Landmark as it is Historic and offers an interesting blend of Architecture. It's situated on the belem waterfront, linking The Monument of Discoveries and, through a very well landscaped "park" area, the Monastery across the street. Nice spot for a couple of pics, but that's about it....

Not a huge presence, I'm afraid, as it actually appears quite dwarfed by the immense open space around it..... It's value def. lies on what it represents and it's history and not much more. Apreciate the History and architecture, snap a couple of shots then continue on along the Tagus watching locals catch fish as you make your way to the Monastery.... I would probably start here, buy the combined ticket (10 Euros includes the Monastery) and after visiting both sites, make sure to stop at the "Casa Pasteis de Belem" for Java and their delicious "Pasteis de Nata" (see reviews)!!

Hope this helps!! KS

“Beautiful architecture”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

The tower was built in the 16th century in the Tagus River to control the entrance to the city from the sea. It's open from 10.00 am to 6.30 pm. The admission fee is 5 euros, but I recommend you purchasing the combined ticket for 10 euros which allows entrance to both Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery. It's worth visiting this place as it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
