“A pleasant stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2014

We spent three happy nights at the hotel in early June. Our room was well appointed and comfortable, with a window looking down on the ever-fascinating street scene in the Rua dos Correeiros.

On our first evening the shower backed up and flooded the bathroom floor, but someone from reception arrived quickly with a mop to clean up, and the next day the maintenance crew sorted the problem out, greatly diminishing the hassle factor.

The staff were uniformly friendly and service-oriented.

We would definitely be willing to stay at the hotel again.

If you're in Lisbon to see the sights, you can't beat the location of this lovely, contemporary hotel. Only a block from Rossi Square, you are minutes away from the Metro, train to Sintra, tram 23 and dozens of restaurants and shops. The rooms are large enough for a brief stay, and the staff is cheerfully helpful. (Be sure to ask for dining suggestions.) The only odd feature is the sliding door that either closes off the bathroom or the closet/safe/Nespresso maker. The walk in rain shower is roomy, and can be viewed from the bedroom if the automatic blinds have been raised. Like others, we loved the small bottle of Port and pastels left for us on the first night. If you are arriving in the afternoon, note that the cab driver will need to drop you off a couple short blocks away because the street is closed for pedestrians and outside restaurant seating.

We stayed 3 nights while in Lisbon. This hotel is central to everything! We booked a suite with balcony. Furnishings & decor is contemporary, balcony had 3 sets of doors (2 in sitting area & 1 off bedroom) and lit up at night. What was truly amazing is that this balcony was right above a very noisy street when doors were open, but when closed it was total silence. Room was very clean & comfortable. Bathroom was a good size with both a jacuzzi & lovely rain shower. Nespresso machine in the room with 2 caps. Our first evening saw us returning to some locally made tarts , together with small bottle of Port and glasses....nice touch. Mini Bar is free which is not something you don't see often in any hotel. We did not have breakfast, however we ate lunch twice and dinner once. And just to clarify....we are pretty fussy when it comes to our food. The food was some of the best we had in Lisbon. Try the steak as it's actually about 2 inches thick & was cooked to perfection (med. rare). As for the Sangria.....it was the best we had in all of Portugal! But, if you are into touristy food, around the corner on Rua Augusta you can have your fill.....we left breakfast sitting on the table....it was not good at all!

However.....the best part of our stay was the service from every staff member we encountered. From reception, to housekeeping, to restaurant, and room service. Each of them deserves at least a 6 star. We highly recommend this hotel when in Lisbon.
CONS: This is more of a suggestion than a criticism......put 2 Nespresso per day.....it's nice to have a coffee when you first wake up!

Room Tip: Room 405 is a suite, near elevators & long balcony.

As a group of 4 we had 2 rooms for 2 nights in June 2014.

This hotels location cannot be bettered; it’s in city centre and all the must see sights.

Having been on a bus tour and seen where our other hotel choices were located we felt we had 100% made the best possible choice.

The staff are professional and polite and always available to answer questions and assist, their English is impeccable and they are extremely smart and well presented.

We had booked the basic rooms which were perfect for our needs indeed from viewing a more expensive room we saw little better to warrant any extra outlay.

The rooms contained all that’s needed including a coffee machine with fresh milk and refills always available on request.

A security safe is also available in all rooms.

Our rooms were on the 1st and 2nd floors and were light and airy and the double glazing kept street noise out virtually completely - a big plus was that the windows did open even though there was effective air con

After appx midnight street noise was extremely low, this is not an area where drunken revelers are found, although delivery trucks start their day at appx 6am.

The double bed was wide and as you expect from a 4 star and the bedding and towels etc were all clean and in good order.

No gowns or slippers but hey – we managed!

Wi-Fi was free of charge and effective as was the adequately stocked free mini bar in the room.

Note – I am not over emphasizing my opinion that the shower was one of the best I have ever found in a hotel!

We booked room only as we prefer local café breakfasts with the buzz of the locals but breakfast in the hotel was available at a 15 Euros premium per person which given Portuguese prices somewhat excessive although on inspection it was of high quality and there seemed to be sufficient quantities of it.

Sightseeing, bus tours and shopping is in walking distance, you definitely do not need a car to get around. use the old style trams and the taxis are very cheap, clean and safe.

There are plenty of local restaurants and cafes and the night life is chilled.

We had dinner out the two nights we were there and can fully endorse Enoteca de Belem which is a cab ride away and Grapes & Bites which is a walk away from the hotel – both were superb but different in cuisine Booking is absolutely essential at both locations.

Be aware that the restaurants/snack bars outside the hotel are very very basic and not cheap! If you want to eat local to the hotel then the hotels “bar meals” looked far better quality and reasonable value.

Unfortunately there are increasing numbers of non-Portuguese beggars and hawkers active in the city – keep your items of value close to you, pick pockets are on the increase.

Apparently there has been a significant increase in their numbers in recent years but it’s currently no worse than Rome or Paris and whilst the local police are to be seen on the streets they seem somewhat casual in “getting involved”

On departure the hotel organized a taxi for us and assisted with our luggage- all done quickly and politely.

Lisbon is as busy city and there is certainly enough to fill 3 days of sightseeing and the place to stay is the Santa Justa!

Room Tip: Basic rooms are perfectly adequate

Went there for some days and was very good due location, warm reception, good rooms, good bathroom. My wife loved shower - huge - but for my taste should have more pressure. Breakfast also good, but restaurant are bad with 2/3 options and poor quality.
Go out for lunch and dinner. Location is a must, but be careful because street closes after 10 AM, so you will have to cary luggage by your own.

Room Tip: Ask for higher room and not with main street view. There are plenty of restaurants in the sidewalk t...

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights recently on the recommendation of Trip Advisor and were absolutely delighted. The hotel was very central to the river, shops, restaurants, elevator, tram, station and metro. It was only a short metro ride from Lisbon Airport at a very reasonable price. In fact the whole transport system seemed to work very efficiently and very cheaply!

The hotel itself is lovely. The bedroom was smart and very comfortable with a huge bathroom with walk in shower. The buffet breakfast was good with the girls topping up the bowls and plates regularly. Unfortunately the evening meal menu was very limited so we did not eat at the hotel. However, we were given recommendations by the very helpful and polite staff at the front desk who also gave us a map of the area and advised us how to get to various attractions.

On the evening of our arrival we were given port and the traditional custard tarts which were absolutely delicious.

I agree with other reviewers that the local restaurant owners near to the hotel were very pushy when walking past, but you could easily go a different way. I was also offered drugs on two occasions nearby!

Overall we had a fabulous 3 nights in Lisbon and wished that we had been able to stay longer. The weather could have been better but didn't really stop us doing anything.

We will definitely be back and will definitely stay at the Hotel Santa Justa again.

Stayed here for 4 nights in May 2014. The location is simply brilliant. Very close to city centre and all the must see sights. The staff are very polite and always ready to help. a special mention to Diana at the restaurant who was very efficient. Being UK travellers one thing we missed was the lack of tea or a kettle in the room and had to pay 8 euros every time for tea!!.We paid for a superior deluxe room but have a feeling we werent given that or if we were its not good enough. Theres an espresso machine in the room which got no refills when the room was cleaned! small gestures like that changes a hotel from ok to excellent! Wi-fi was down all of the first day we were there and had to pay for connection in order to check emails etc and was told it was a server error. So overall, am not impressed by the attention to detail or quality of service but the location is what makes it worthwhile.
