There's so many beautifull things in Lisbon asides football! It's in a new part of town, with no architectural or historical interest.

We went here with our grandson. Unfortunately it was the day Eusebio passed away and we, luckily, arrived before the reporters, photographers and fans. It was a wonderful experience and we were shown the stadium by two young guides. Just the 5 of us in that massive stadium!!!! I would never, I am not a football fan, have expected a public place such as that to be so clean and well managed.
Even though it was such a sad day I would like to offer my condolences and congratulations to the Benfequistas.

“Benfica rules!”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

This is the new stadium, but its mystique keeps going on with 6000 fans in Portugal alone. Visit the museum for old glories and history.

“Best stadium in the world”
Reviewed November 29, 2013

The Stadium of Light is the home of Benfica, the best club in the world! The supporters are fanatics, but they are right because they are supporting the best club in the world. lol. I advise all foreigners visiting this wonderful place, a place of pilgrimage for almost all Portuguese, or at least the most serious and the most beautiful...

“Visit the stadium and see the game. One of Europes greats”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

If you are a football fan then on your visit to Lisbon make time to go to Benficas home ground. The stadium tour at 10 euros lasts for 1 hour and takes in the changing rooms, press area, and private corporate areas. It also goes down to the pitch and around the running track. The Eagles used to fly over the crowd and pitch during the beginning of home games are usually out on their perches. You can also go to the museum but that is another 10 euros. The souvenir shop sells the usual gear and also match tickets. We had ours already but at about 20 euros it is cheap and the experience is great. We saw Benfica versus Madeira and with a crowd of just over 35,000 it was still only half full. Don't bother buying tickets on sites such as Stubhub as they are very expensive. Buy direct and pick your seats. More difficult for Sporting Lisbon and Oporto games but for all others I couldn't see a problem. The metro stops at a shopping Mall, Collegio Militar and is 5 minutes walk to the ground. Don't bother with taxis as it is very busy on match days. Beer wagons by the shopping mall where the fans meet and get a drink. No issues with fans and police were almost invisible. Get in 30 minutes before ko to see the eagle fly and enjoy the day.
