Great recommendations from our Hotel. The food was good, the place is small but great little place for o Fado. I have to say that the only thing that really got to us was some ladies that would not stop talking loud and also laugh. Don't get me wrong ny husband and I talked but not loud that one could hear the entire conversation, but we also waited in between singers. They sing 4 songs then a break plenty of time to talk then, but not the 3 that were sittings next to us, that wreck it for me. There are people that think that they are the only ones on holiday and ignore the fact that they behaviour wrecks someone else day or evening. Also the waiter could not do anything. They never stopped, sad

You'd be better off to just throw money into the river then go to this place. The local Portuguese beer (Superbock) was $10/bottle. The asparagus appetizer (cold) was $18. We had one bottle of wine (cheapest on the menu for green wine), one entree (chicken), and the asparagus appetizer, and our bill was ~$90. It would be much cheaper (and less-insulting) to just go to a place that charged a cover-charge.

A desk clerk at Mundial Hotel recommended A SEVERA restaurant. The restaurant featured dinner and a Fado performance. We expected to pay a premium for dinner with entertainment AND WE DID The menu items, including starters first course and main course as well as wine were all overpriced and the food barely in the fair category. We would never recommend this restaurant.
We realize we made a mistake by asking a desk clerk at Mundial hotel for a recommendation and for not asking for the restaurant complaints book. We were not made aware of the complaints book.
Our biggest mistake, however, was visiting A SEVERA and have made Turismo de Lisboa aware of our experience

Our hotel suggested it as we wanted fado music and traditional food. nothing special regarding food comparing to other restaurants we visited. the worst was the price! We got suppriced by the very expensive bill! Just think about the water cost 7,5 euro and couver for each person 7! Totall 87 euro for each and it was nothing special! I would not recommend it to someone who does not like to feel stupid!!

I totally agree with all that has been said before and I too wish that I had read the Trip Adviser reviews in advance of my visit.
An appalling meal with a bottle of house wine cost 126 Euros! To be avoided like the plague.
If you want the fado experience visit one of the little cafes in Alfama where you will get much better food and excellent entertainment for a fraction of the price.
