“Pleasantly Surprised !”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

On our first day in Lisbon we stumbled across ZamBeZe after a day of sightseeing . It's hard to ignore the dramatic view the terrace offers. We sat down for a beer to enjoy the view. It was sunset and the staff were preparing the tables in the dining room. I asked to see the menu and was told that it was Portuguese-Mocambique cuisine .
On day 2 in Lisbon, we took a 20 minute cab ride to Enoteca de Belem for a Saturday evening dinner . We were disappointed and dismayed that it was closed. Without a back-up plan, I remembered ZamBeZe from the previous afternoon . The beautiful dining room was full, so we sat in the terrace with the sweeping views of Lisbon. It was chilly !
Our waiter was FANTASTIC ! He was very accommodating and friendly. We were 4 adults, one being a vegetarian.
We started with an array of cheese, olives, bread and the delicious house wine from their own, private vineyard. Our main dishes were bacalao, grilled goat meat, pork and seafood. The dessert table had an impressive selection of local desserts.
We had an excellent evening at ZamBeZe . Service was equally excellent . Recommend.

“Great views of Lisbon”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

We were a group of 22 people, so not the best way to judge the food ( it was a set menu). The starters were good, the main courses were average. The service was attentive. We had drinks before, in the big terrace -the night was just perfect and the view over Lisbon is stunning. Will go back to try the a la carte menu. Moderately priced.

“Modern ambiance and lovely foodcombinations with a view”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

After a couple of days in Lissabon, we got used to the usually dishes of an average restaurant in Lissabon. ZamBeZe took us by surprise. We had a lunch. It wasn't very busy. So no complains about the service. I had a very nice vegetarian dish. We were surprised by a little in between snack for free. An interesting mix of flavours. We experienced more creativity in this kitchen than anywhere else during our trip in Portugal.

“Great view - everything else was poor”
Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

Stumbled upon the restaurant on the way down from the castle. Four of us stood for at least 5 min on the terrace, waiting to be seated but the waiters completely ignored us. We sat down at the only available table in the shade, which hadn't been cleared. It took them another 10 mins to clear it but did not put any cutlery for us! The waiter took our order but again, no cutlery. I had to ask them three times for it. There were three waiters and only six or seven occupied tables, so they clearly just couldn't be bothered. The food was unimpressive and they ended up overcharging us when they brought the bill, which I spotted and complained about. Poor service, poor food and poor value for money.

“Poor service.”
Reviewed August 15, 2013 via mobile

It's hard to ruin one of the nicest views on Lisbon, but they succeeded with very poor service. Don't bother.
