Some friends and I decided to have some drinks at this new wine bar in Bairo Alto while we waited for another friend who was arriving from the airport, when our friend arrived, what appeared to be the manager/owner would not allow him in and grabbed him by the arm and pulled him out of the bar, I had to explain that he was with us, the manager/owner then let him and excused his aggressive behavior by saying he thought our friend was "CIA" because of the small bag he was carrying.

This behavior was completely inappropriate and not a very nice welcome to a new establishment. There are plenty of lovely bars in Bairo Alto so don't take the risk of being targeted here.

I visited here to meet with friends for having a few glasses of wine before dinner. The experience was more than unpleasant, as the bouncer was very intimidating and aggressive. Very untypical of Lisbon and Bairro Alto. We chose to wrap it up and go elsewhere, which is a pity, as it's a nicely decorated place with plenty of wines to taste.

A bit of a confession to start with. We decided we'd try this place one evening in July because it was busy. We then found out it was their Opening Night! Amazingly the owner welcomed us in and asked a waiter to look after us. Free wine and food then followed for an hour. We tried to leave after our first drink (honest) but were told again by the owner to try the red which he poured for us. Try the Solheiro white if you go, it's tremendous. We tried to go there for a drink every night during our ten night stay and were always made very welcome. Please try it I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If the owner is reading this we were the older couple from England - thank you for your lovely hospitality I hope you are a success.
