My husband and I just had the dinner at Adega do Texeira and it has been an amazing experience.
This is the very first review of a restaurant/hotel, really, anything trip related that I ever write, but I believe this restaurant deserves it.
When we came in at around 9ish on a Monday evening, we were the first ones that evening. I knew what to expect from other reviews on Tipadvisor - Portuguese only menu, wheeling in of the meats and fish that we can choose from, two older gentlemen serving us. We had grouper and a steak which were both great. The appetizers (bread, cheese, meat, olives, melon) were wonderful, melon was definitely the best melon I had in my life. There was simply no saying "NO" to the two gentlemen ("Open your bellies!") and we had pretty much everything they offered us, including a bottle of wine, pears marinated in porto wine (de-li-cious), porto wine and coffee, of course. We were guessing what the bill would come to, my husband was sure it would be over 100 eur, probably around 115. It was 72 eur, which was incredible considering all the food and drinks that we had.
Overall, the food was great, service was charming (the two gentlemen deserve a medal for outstanding, extremely attentive service), the restaurant itself was beautiful and it was all beyond reasonably priced. Even though it might seem "old fashioned" to locals, I think that is exactly what makes it a wonderful experience for any visitor to Lisbon.
