“Best restaurant in Alfama”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

Thank goodness we decided to check this place on Trip Advisor instead of walking past to get to the city centre in search of a quality restaurant. Werner and Mario serve up some tasty Italian-style dishes which are supplemented by ad-hoc specials each day.

We enjoyed sharing a variety of starters on our three visits during a week in Lisbon - sausage with salad, spicy prawns and a Thai-style mince with salad were all very tasty.

From the mains, our favourites were the Mushroom Ravioli, Tagliatelle Carbonara and Octopus Pasta (great spicy tomato sauce).

The desserts were superb - chocolate cake and lemon cake were our favourites. Moist, home-made and delicious, we put on a few pounds that week but it was worth it.

If you are determined to sample the local cuisine then ignore this review. We tried it - fish heavy, unfulfilling flavours (or lack of them) and were quite desperate after only 2 days of a week long visit. So thank goodness for these guys - they made our week!

“Our best meal in Lisbon”
Reviewed February 28, 2014

We visited this restaurant after visiting the nearby Castelo de Sao Jorge. It is located around the corner from the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora. It is run by two Swiss nationals. The three entrees (mushroom ravioli, salmon ravioli, and pasta in pesto sauce) were excellent. The accompanying house wine, served by the glass was very good. So were the desserts, especially the Nutella crepe. We enjoyed the meal so much that we tried to return, but unfortunately they are closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

“Just perfect”
Reviewed January 7, 2014 via mobile

After the long drive from Porto we found this restaurant on tripadviser about 100m from the apartment we had rented. We were the only customers on a cold wet evening and were made to feel very welcome. The starter of blood sausage and a lovely fresh salad was delicious followed by a risotto (for my wife) and spicy meatballs in a coconut sauce for me were also delicious. The wine (sold by the glass) to accompany the meal was recommended by 'mine host' and was just right. The ice cream to finish was just right. The whole meal cost just €50. I would highly recommend a visit.

“Cool cafe, friendly service.”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

Good food, friendly service, a nice short list of fresh daily specials. A couple of outdoor tables on a sunny avenue made for good people watching and a nice place to have a late lunch. Child friendly. Excellent freshly-made lemonade. The waiters both spoke perfect English.
