This was the most brilliant place to stay, from the lovely walled tiny courtyard smelling of Jasmine that clambered up the walls, to the immaculate bedroom and bathroom, the welcome from Juan is great, he is informative and treats you as a guest in his house.
Quiet (apart from the occasional barking dog) and easy to get in to town on foot, or the underground station a 5 min walk away.
Get a taxi from the airport, four of us was E15. You might struggle to find it from the underground, although with a smart phone and GPS… but you have to carry your luggage up the hill!
Delicious breakfast, and Juan is helpful with suggestions for dinner. Four of us went and we had a little 'flat' across the courtyard at the back with two double rooms.

An object lesson in getting everything right and demonstrating what true customer service means. I am having a little disagreement with BBC news online at the moment over a recent article about how damaging Tripadvisor can be to businesses and unreliable for users. I totally disagree - without it we would probably not have found Casa Amore and would have missed a real treat. It does not seem to be doing Juan and his team any harm either. Well done everyone. Great room, fabulous breakfast, wonderful personal care and attention. Wholeheartedly recommend this place.

We had a wonderful 3 nights stay in Casa Amora between 16 and 19th March. Very warm welcome, you feel like at home in this guesthouse. Juan took the time to explain us what to see in Lisbon and give us some great tips. We were staying in the duplex superior room which is very confortable, modern and tidy. Special mention for the great breakfast, especially knowing that I need to eat gluten free...Nita was preparing some fresh juices and was paying attention to my special diet requirements. We had really a great time there and highly recommend choosing them if you consider staying in Lisbon!!

Casa Amora is located in a nice area, close to a metro station (Rato) and a grocery store. The breakfast is good, juices, egg casserole, cold ham and cheeses. The owner provides an open kitchen where you can help yourselves to coffee, tea and fruits. Free wifi also.
We stayed in Duplex apartment at the top floor for 4 nights. The duplex apartment's living area was comfortable and the decoration is beautiful. But the problem for us was the stairs were dangerous in the room and also in the B&B generally. We won't recommend anyone not steady on their feet. Getting up and down to the bathroom during the night was really unpleasant. The shower was very tight, and leaked over the bathroom floor.
Juan welcomed us when we got there, and recommended us a restaurant with Fado in pushy way. But that's not to say that he is not friendly. He did a French toast for us in a first day breakfast.
We agreed with the review of Olivier_sf "Beauty is the eye of the beholder. Some may consider quirks, others might consider cool design and non-issues.
For us, we wouldn't stay Casa Amora again.

We arrived very early in the morning at 6am and because our room was available they let us check-in early. We were greeted at the door by Juan our incredibly helpful host, available by phone 24h. He gave us a map of Lisbon and pointed out all the best spots for food shopping the nearby subway and of course the sites. He was very nice, it was like having a friend in town. The house and rooms are charming, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is included available all morning and delicious. Because our room wasn't booked, they also let us check out late (7:30pm). We missed this hotel for the rest of our trip through Portugal and Spain.

We stayed for 2 nights at Casa Amora. It is a beautiful boutique guesthouse in a lovely quiet area of Lisbon but very easy to get to and from the Entrecampos train station or about a 20 minute walk into Bairro Alto area. Luis was a fabulous host, nothing was too much trouble and he sat with us when we arrived and talked us through all sorts of things to do and see. We took his advice and it made our weekend even better. Breakfast was lovely, with homemade frittata and cakes and his mums homemade jam, which was gorgeous.
Our bedroom was very stylish, with lots of little touches we even came back to chocolate covered strawberries, port and a red rose (its was Valentines weekend). We will definately return to Casa Amora.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Casa Amora is a typical building of Lisbon’s early twentieth century petite bourgeoisie, renovated in 2012, with a small outdoor patio for rest or meals and 5 bedrooms (all with bathroom). Each room pays homage to one of the great figures of Portuguese art (painting, music, literature, film) of the last century. The process of renewal and adaptation carefully kept all the decorative elements existing in the rooms (plaster) and exterior (tiles, balcony), introducing a color palette that contributes to a peaceful and relaxing environment. Casa Amora is located in one of the nicest and most central districts of Lisbon, Praça das Amoreiras. In this neighborhood, where the 18th century Aqueduct (that survived the great Lisbon earthquake of 1755) reaches and end, Casa Amora is neighbor to Water Museum (Museu da Mae de Agua) and the Vieira da Silva / Arpad Szenes museum. Residents and visitors have easy and direct access to the neighborhoods of antique shops (Rua de Sao Bento and Rua da Escola Politecnica), historic districts (Bairro Alto and Chiado), Avenida da Liberdade and its fashion shops as well as the shopping center Amoreiras, all at walking distance. ... more   less
