Casa Amora is a great apartment option for staying in Lisbon. Juan, the proprietor, will welcome you with open arms and provide countless gems of advice, especially to a new visitor to Lisbon. He is always accessible and eager to respond to questions and needs. The morning breakfast, included, is a delight - a mix of help yourself and gracious service. The accommodations are terrific - clean, comfortable and cozy! If you are a bit skittish about being "on your own" in an apartment, do not be concerned. Juan will take care of you and send you on your way each day. Casa is affiliated with the Mercador and reflects the graciousness of the management. Loved it and will definitely return.

Thanks Juan.

So impressed with the hospitality, ambience, and comfort. Luis mad Juan so helpful from suggestions about transport from the airport, a map with places to visit marked in priority order by Juan who wants us to love Lisbon! And a walk through the subway to relieve my anxiety about my daily commute to Cascais. Loved breakfast in the patio and the availability of fruit. Location is ideal in the heart if Lisbon! Next to the amazing aqueduct and lush garden for strolls! I'll be back!

Room Tip: Ask Luis or Juan they will help!

We stayed here for three nights in October and found that it most certainly merited its top guest house in Lisbon .Juan was very helpful and informative ,the rooms were very chic but ambient and as for Anita and her breakfasts make sure you have a good appetite as she provides plenty of treats .On the whole it's location is very central but away from the noise of the city and it has a friendly and ambient atmosphere ,we would stay there again .

My husband and I as well as two friends stayed at Casa Amora for three nights in October, 2013. An effusive welcome from Juan initiated a delightful stay from beginning to end. He was full of information about Lisbon, the immediate neighborhood, dining, sightseeing and transportation and the Casa itself. He was on hand each morning and easily available by cell phone when we needed him. Nita, oh goddess of the kitchen prepared a feast each morning for breakfast...fresh juice, freshly baked croissants, quiches and a breakfast desert, always with a smile. We booked a walking tour of Sintra through Casa Amora at Juan's suggestion with a company Idiscover Portugal. Sara and Guido were absolutely great, full of information not only of Sintra but of Portugal past and present, wished we had met them on our first day, they had so many helpful tips. The rooms are beautifully appointed and quiet, the beds are comfortable. It really was perfect. Thank you Juan, Luis and Nita for a beautiful stay in Lisbon.

Room Tip: Bring the map that Juan emails you for the Taxi ride from the airport as it is a little difficult to...

An excellent base close to The Rato Metro Station, so very easy access to all of Lisbon's sights and to access the airport. Very warmly welcomed for our 5 night stay by Juan with detailed information about restaurants (excellent local ones!), transport and what to see. Nothing was too much trouble and the range of beverages. biscuits and fresh fruit available throughout the day made our return each day from sightseeing just perfect.
Breakfasts were "laid back" with a chance to talk to fellow guests in the charming dining room and to sample an extensive range of "help yourself " delights including (my favourite) both a sweet and a savoury flan fresh from the oven.
We stayed in the Duplex room with a balcony overlooking the rear courtyard garden, lovely bathroom and toiletries and would definitely book this again if returning.
We had a late flight home and a real bonus for us was the efficient credit card check out with luggage storage and use of a bathroom and refreshments prior to leaving.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are very peaceful

My husband and I just returned from 3 nights at Casa Amora. Our wonderful experience started before we arrived with the personalized service from Juan and Luis making sure we knew how to find them, what to tell the cab driver etc. Juan greeted us when we arrived and made us feel completely at home. His goal, to make sure that we enjoyed Casa Amora and that we enjoyed the best of Lisbon. He marked up a map with all of his recommendations including where to pick up the Metro closest to Casa Amora. We utilized the Metro a lot during our stay, but also found It was very easy to walk from Casa Amora to many of the different neighborhoods in Lisbon. For me, the most interesting shopping in Lisbon was found a short walk away...thanks Luis! Our last evening we asked Juan to surprise us and make us a reservation in a "special restaurant" - Juan arranged a window table at the lovely Bistro 100 Maneiras. We had an amazing meal complete with celebrity sightings...I am quite certain that Juan arranged these also.

PS - forgot to mention, our room was very comfortable with a nice private balcony. We really enjoyed the delicious breakfast lovingly prepared by Nita. A very special thank you to Juan for making our visit so special.

Room Tip: Juan takes care of moving your luggage, but there are quite a few stairs to get to some of the bedro...

The perfect place to see lisbon from. We arrived late and Juan very helpfully booked us a table close by so we could get some food. Juan couldn't have been more kind and helpful with suggestions and help. The rooms were comfortable and worth staying a little out of town for.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Casa Amora is a typical building of Lisbon’s early twentieth century petite bourgeoisie, renovated in 2012, with a small outdoor patio for rest or meals and 5 bedrooms (all with bathroom). Each room pays homage to one of the great figures of Portuguese art (painting, music, literature, film) of the last century. The process of renewal and adaptation carefully kept all the decorative elements existing in the rooms (plaster) and exterior (tiles, balcony), introducing a color palette that contributes to a peaceful and relaxing environment. Casa Amora is located in one of the nicest and most central districts of Lisbon, Praça das Amoreiras. In this neighborhood, where the 18th century Aqueduct (that survived the great Lisbon earthquake of 1755) reaches and end, Casa Amora is neighbor to Water Museum (Museu da Mae de Agua) and the Vieira da Silva / Arpad Szenes museum. Residents and visitors have easy and direct access to the neighborhoods of antique shops (Rua de Sao Bento and Rua da Escola Politecnica), historic districts (Bairro Alto and Chiado), Avenida da Liberdade and its fashion shops as well as the shopping center Amoreiras, all at walking distance. ... more   less
