“Pleasant stay near Alfama aerea”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

Perfect location near of the railway,- and busstation. The rooms with a view at the Tagus River or at the cathedral from Alfama. The girls from the Guesthouse are very kind and helpful The rooms are clean and nice tasteful decorated. The breakfast and the coffee from the Italian machine was very good. With nice homemade cakes always available. I saw people in the evening preparing there own food. With is very attractive for low budget travelers. They don`t have twinbeds, but the beds are very large. There is only one slight problem, at night it might be noicy from the cars passing by. As there is no airco, you might like to open the window. In that case you better ask for a room at the riverside.

Dear Quiny,

Thank you very much for your kind review. We were very happy that you've enjoyed your stay with us. I just would like to clarify that we do have twin beds. In fact all the beds are single but we join them with a topper and turn them in a King Size Double Bed. We are very flexible.
Thank you again and we hope to see you soon.

We stayed in Sweet Lisbon River Guesthouse in november 2012 ;
the room and common bathroom were perfectly clean, the staff was helpful , geographical position is nice and the breakfast is copious.
Well, the only drawbak is : the rooms giving on a (paved) street was a bit noisy.

We had the pleasure of staying at the guesthouse after it had just debuted in May 2012. I must admit, I was a bit nervous walking the street and up the elevator to the location, but once you walk in it is a portal to an oasis. A comfortable reception, brand new kitchen, and guest rooms that were well furnished with comfortable beds and great views. We felt welcomed and enjoyed the location, near the train and also near one of the best pizza spots I have ever been!! The breakfast was well above average. I am very excited to return, and thank you again for such a great stay! Erik and Tomi.

Excellent location on the Tagus River in the Alfama neighborhood of Lisbon.
The Guesthouse is clean, quiet, and well-kept, with a very friendly and helpful staff!
Breakfast was good, and coffee is always available--a perk I really enjoyed! Fantastic
location, truly right for roaming the streets of old Alfama and experiencing the area.

This is one of the best places I've ever stayed at! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, everybody tried to make us feel welcome. The rooms are extremely clean and the bathrooms are beyond expectations. Every room has it's own color, and we had a pleasure to stay at red and yellow, and both were amazing. I don't even wanna talk about the view! You wake up, and you see the sunrise over the water! It was breathtaking. Breakfast is indeed very simple, but you can also take any food or drinks (like apples or orange juice) you want from the fridge (unless they're labelled by the other guests).

It's also very well situated from everything you need - train and metro station are 5 minutes away, so you can go to the airport or other cities with no hassle, and it's also around 15 mins walk from the city center.

There was indeed problems with the noise the second night of our stay when the neighbours made a horrible loud party, when you felt like you're sleeping in a club, and we had to ask a service assistant Pedro to call the police. My surprise was that nobody else bothered to do that, especially people from neighbouring houses. If it would happen again we wouldn't just wait till the party is over (apparently they're up till 5 or later in the morning), but rather call the police straight away. Apart from that - lovely lovely place.

We stayed here for 5 nights. We arrived at 12.00 which was a huge problem because check-in was only at 16.00 and they did not do a luggage storage and I didn't notice. So were not so welcome, maybe a detail but for us it was like a start in minor.
The hotel is located in Alfama, the heart of Lissabon. We took a few times a taxi, but it's only a 15 minutes walk to the 'real' centre. A lot of restaurants in the neighbourhood where you can enjoy the fado music.
We booked a room with private bathroom, the rooms were very clean, big enough, nicely decorated. You can enjoy the view at the river. The guesthouse had a lounge and a fridge you can use and they offer coffee.
The sleep quality was not that good. The first night we were awake until 5.00 in the morning because of very loud music, we almost packed our bags. We thought there was a disco underneath but it was apparently a private party from a neighbour. OK, the hotel can't do anything about this. The second night we woke up because of other guests who thought they were alone. The rooms are very good on one hand, but on the other hand you hear every door closing, the ringing of the door, they put the breakfasttables at night, a lot of trafic and noise from outside. The rooms were very warm at night, a pity they didn't install airco, because they really need it.
The breakfast was very basic, coffee, orange juice, breads, marmelade, cheese & ham, but we don't need anything more for breakfast. If you're 'late', you don't have any more bread...
If you are looking for a cheap and nice hostel in Lisbon I would recommend it, but put earplugs in.
