Booking this hotel seemed like a no brainer, with the amazing reviews and fundamentally a 5* hotel - what could go wrong? Answer: not much – it was a great choice. I got this hotel through a package deal via “travelrepublic.com” and chose the ‘twin superior buffet breakfast’ (oh yea, they’ve got loads of fancy names for the different rooms).

The hotel is very closely located to the metro stop ‘Jardim Zoologico’. As I told my friend, all we had to do was look and past the fly over you see this superbly tall tower of a hotel. Decorated on the side of the tower is the name, Corinthia (see photo). From Lisboa airport, it's a very easy and quick metro ride (40min max with 2 interchanges) to the hotel. From the airport, follow the exit signs towards the metro. Once at the metro station, decide what ticket to buy (it's very easily translated into English so you can decide what the best deal is for you; single €1.50/24hr pass €6), then navigate your way to 'Jardim Zoologico'. This is what we did and got there with no problems.
We arrived at the hotel late in the night (~ 11pm) and were pretty impressed with the grand entrance and how clean and professional it looked. I made a note to notice the surrounding buildings, and though this hotel is very modern and well maintained it stands in a relatively poorly developed area, with buildings opposite and adjacent looking rather run down.

Our room was located on the 14th floor and was neatly presented. Clean sheets, ample amount of towels and a relatively decently sized twin room. A note: we had a problem with our safe, which was quickly fixed by the hotel staff. There was complimentary tea/coffee but no milk (which we requested and came in a pot, free of charge). I always judge a room by its toilet/bathroom and this room did not fail to delivery. A big bath with a fixed shower head, two sinks, a bidet and toilet with music playing in the background proved to be 4* star worthy.

We enjoyed the buffet breakfast that followed early morning (7-11am). They have a huge range of food, from your hot ‘English’ breakfast to savoury delights. The prize of the breakfast however was the specially made omelettes by the chef ‘Stephen’. You select what spices/ingredients to add to your omelette and he makes it absolutely superbly. This is the unique part of the breakfast, and me and my mate enjoyed quite a few servings of our specially made omelette. Be sure to check this out!

After our endeavours through the city, nothing really inspired us for food and therefore we decided to eat at our hotel. The hotel has dinner facilities with buffet choices and/or a fixed menu to look at. We decided to go to the bar and order our food there, as here they had a different range of food which was cheaper and more appealing to us. From the bar, the waiter was very pleasant and helpful. He went through the ‘snack/dinner’ menu (which is custom to the bar and not the main dining area). We ordered calamari and mozzarella sticks, both were absolutely scrumptious! Whilst watching the footy, casually speaking to the waiter who was telling us about local things to do, we ordered our main. We went for the ‘Chicken bacon sandwich’ and it was absolutely lovely. We bought one main and that was enough to fill us both. After this, we bought a dessert each that was ‘Apple Crumble’ with vanilla-cinnamon ice cream. Goodness me, this was absolutely lovely! With drinks and a full 3-course menu, the price came up to ~€60. I would definitely recommend dining at the bar as it’s a pleasant experience, cheap with very helpful staff.

The swimming pool is free and located on the second floor. I was put off by the damp smell and small size of the pool so didn’t bother venturing in. The sauna is also available but came at a cost of €21 for 3 hours?! Err, no. Also the spa choices are large but extremely expensive so didn’t dare bat an eyelid towards that.

Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you get a good deal – which you almost undoubtedly should get. It isn’t quite 5* but lives up to certain 5* qualities in dining, presentation and atmosphere.

Traveling family of four stayed here in December 2012. We chose to stay at Corinthia because of proximity to the airport. We arrived in Lisbon a little later than planned and had to fly out the next day. However, the Corinthia was the most impressive hotel we have ever stayed in. It is somewhat costly but it has achieved a level of perfection that only comes at a price. Would have loved to have had a longer stay. The breakfast was excellent. The staff top notch. Portugal is a welcoming place, can't wait to go back, abrigado!

The hotel is a nice modern building with good facilities, including a nice restaurant, bar and pool. The Spa is exceptional albeit a little expensive bearing in mind the Portuguese economy.

I stayed in a superior room which was clean and functional with a lovely oval mirror above the bed to add some style. The bathroom was bright and large, with some great touches like a heated mirror to stop steaming. Hard to find fault but the air-con and control panel could be modernised.

The general manager is exceptional, and I could feel his presence and passion throughout my stay. His team are committed, professional and make customers feel valued.

Quite simply an outstanding experience that was made special by the people who take pride in their work.

Well done Corinthia Hotel, a superb effort. I will certainly be looking no further than Corinthia the next time I stay in Lisbon.

We stayed in a standard queen room on the 7th floor for 4 nights in March.
Check in was fine. We were given the option of booking breakfast at a reduced rate on checking in at 14 euros as opposed to something like18/19 euros. We declined this and had breakfast locally at Baloico usually 2 ham & cheese croissants & 2 lattes for 7 euros
The room was nice, en suite bathroom with overbath shower. We did find the room got too hot overnight even with the air con on. There was a mini bar in the room but this was expensive, 5 euros for a small pot of pringles and 5 euros for a very small tin of mints, a small beer was 4.50 euros. There was a hairdryer in the room but this is a bug bear of mine in most hotels in that the sockets were not near a mirror.
We had a couple of drinks in the bar. The bar staff were very nice. As expected in a lot of hotels the prices were dearer 5.50 euros for 50cl of the local beer and 8.80 euros for a 3.5cl of sambucca.

We used the pool and found the temp fine. We knew from TA reviews a swim cap was required so I had bought 2 with us.The staff asked us prior to going in if we has our caps, even though my husband does not have much hair but there was a young girl with long hair in the pool with no cap on. What we didn't know beforehand was if you are just using the pool you have to get changed in your room first, there are dressing gowns & slippers provided in your room. Apparently the changing room was for the clients using the spa and gym facilities. I was disappointed that the sauna & steam was not free to use for guests as has been the case in other hotels I have stayed at.
In the guest info book in the room it said we could check our bill on the tv but we did not have this facility on our tv. When it came to check out you sometimes have to queue in line, the itemised bill was not printed till after we had paid. The bill was not that easy to understand as some items we had purchased were not put on the days we had actually had them. The staff member agreed that they sometimes find them hard to follow. At previous hotels we have either been given copies of receipts of any purchases as we go along or we were able to view the bill as we go along in our room and then given a bill under the room door on the day of departure and if it was correct you just sign it,as they have already taken my credit card details on arrival, and drop it off along with the key in a deposit box in reception.
The area around the hotel was not that nice there were a couple of restaurants which I have reviewed separately, Casa Mia, Sixteen Malhoa and for breakfast Baloico. I was disappointed we didn't find any nice local bars. The hotel is very handy for the metro, train station & tourist bus

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting a review on tripadvisor regarding your recent stay at the Corinthia Hotel Lisbon.

With regret I read your comments with reference to various issues encountered during your stay. Your notes are duly noted and our management team is now informed about your concerns.

I am sorry that our fantastic room could not be enjoyed at length as it was too hot. Normally our heating system provides a good and ambient temperature across the hotel and we apologize if the temperature was placed way too hot. Recently we got fluctuating temperatures between Night and day and as the Hotel systems are centrally controlled we will endeavour to ensure a more consistent level of temperature in all our bedrooms. I am sorry for this shortcoming.
We are in progress of refurbishing the Rooms and we will definitely consider your comments in our future room refurbishment project and we will take your points such as the power points into consideration as we modernise and improve facilities.

The Longevity Spa at the Corinthia Hotel Lisbon has a water treatment room ‘Aquasensations’ where the Jacuzzi and Steam Room are located. When going to this area Guests benefits from Jacuzzi, Steam Room, Sauna and as well as the internal water treatment circuit.

I stayed at the Corinthia Hotel in Lisbon with a friend for four nights in mid-March. I booked the hotel through British Airways as part of one of their city break deals. The hotel is in the business district of Lisbon, about a 10 minute metro ride away from the City centre. Although there isn't a great deal to see or do in close proximity to the hotel, it's ideally located just a couple of minutes walk from a metro station. The hotel is very clean and the staff are all helpful and friendly. I chose the Corinthia because it has an indoor pool and it was nice to have a swim having spent the day wandering around Lisbon. The pool is quite large, clean and has a nice sundeck with loungers. This is an ideal hotel to use as a base if you are having a break in Lisbon. My only criticism is that the pool was quite cold and it would have been far more enjoyable if the water had been warmer.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 8th floor which was OK although having read some of the other reviews, higher fl...
