We had our final dinner at BarAlto, a nice little restaurant in the heart of Bairro Alto. At weekends you should reserve a table, but we went on a Thursday and got our table instantly.
The service started immediately and was very friendly in both Portuguese and English. The menu card offered a good range of meat, fish dishes and a great range of wines. I choosed some local cheese specialties as a starter and Tiger Prawns on Mango-risotto as main course. The food was served in a good time, it was warm and had a very good taste. Some Prawns were not 100% cleaned but that was a minor issue for me.
As we sat outside i can't say anything about the atmosphere inside the restaurant. If you reserve, I don't recommend to sit outside because there are only 2 tables straight beside the menu card at the entrance, so all interested guests look onto your meal while eating.
Pricing was OK, it was a bit more costly than at other restaurants mainly because of the location. Personally I thought my serving could be slightly bigger for the money. In total we spent 60 Euro for 2 persons incl. 1 starter for both, 2 main dishes and 3 glasses of wine plus water.
I think it's a good place to eat, the dishes are creative, it's easy to reach and you can have a good cocktail afterwards in the neighbour bars.
