February 3-5th 2012.
This is a great base for visiting all the sights in lisbon. This was a surprise weekend away for my girlfriend and was she surprised at what she called "enormous room".
Although reading reviews for the hotel before arriving, which were informative and ensured I was prepared for what to expect, we were pleased with the choice of hotel.
The staff were very helpful and acted very professional at all times, but yes the male staff coulsd of cracked a smile sometimes.Room was clean and well presented, but perhaps a little frade at the edges. Breakfast was plentiful and of a good standard, when we found it after getting lost in the maze of corridors. Location is fantastic to see all the sites and shopping... and dumping the bags back for the second round of shopping.
Overall we would recommend this hotel to anyone.

As nearly everyone commented on the bad bits of LISBON i thought i better as well. Lisbon is two different cities depending if it is night or day.
By day it is a busy active place with great shopping lots to visit and see. Food is great at most of the cafe's and restaurant's around town. Apart from the odd homeless person coming up to you begging for money, you are left alone to sit and soak up the atmosphere with a leisurely.
Found people in general very polite and welcoming. If traveling by tram, bus or metro, my suggestion is to wear coat with pockets inside and split money around your person or around a group. As mentioned in most reviews, pick pocketing in crowded/ confined spaces is common, especially on tourist looking people (I look typically English)

A must!!! try on a Tuesday or Saturday at 4.30 at Rossio square to go on the Gourmet tour (leaflet at tourist centre) cost £20 for 4 hour tour around Lisbon tasting local port's, cheese, marmalade, cherry brandy, custard tarts, beers and more. Paulo the guide is fountain of knowledge and brings you into his world where the unusual can be found behind an unusual door. Our tour lasted 5 hours and was non stop.

By night it is totally different. First suggestion do not walk around alone, try to pair up or go out in groups.
The homeless and other shade people stand in dark doorways and step out when you pass them and can make you very nervous. Streets are generally quite with not a sole around until 9pm-2am when apparently locals go out to socialise (passed by bed time). That said, I would recommend lisbon to anyone.

overall this is a great hotel to stay in,
Good points- very close to airport (€8 in taxi ), spotlessly clean, breakfast was all very well laid out with the usual pastries, salamies, cheese, eggs, fruits, sausages, bacon etc all well stocked and set us up till lunchtime.
Bedrooms were very spacious and spotless, beds are quite hard but if its only for few nights its ok. we had great views of the neighbouring houses with the castle peeking over the top.The staff we dealt with were all very nice and helpful.
things they could work on- no tea/coffee facilities in rooms, and the check in is slow and when we asked about safety deposit box in room we were told yes but when getting to the room discovered you had to rent them, now surely we could have been told this at check in ??we were on the 6th floor and as there is only 2 lifts sometimes you had to wait a bit or take the stairs, the drinks in the bar are quite expensive so drink elsewhere.
Overall we would stay in this hotel again as the pros far outway the cons in my opion.

Room Tip: 6th floor was new and clean, overlooked the back of the hotel, quiet and nice views of the castle

stayed here for a weekend in january, hotel was great value and very central. only 7 euros in a taxi to the airport which is abnormal in our experience of any city in europe and we,ve been to many. free breakfeast everyday with huge choice on offer, nice freindly staff, clean rooms and safe region of lisbon which is lovely in itself. we we,re more than happy with the mundial and would definitely stay there again.

Good location, in the old part of the city, very clean, very nice and helpfull staff, very good breakfast. The bathroom didn't have a shower cabin, but a tub and a shower cape, and a glass wall, and it wasn't too comfortable. The aircon (heating) made a loud noise, made us feel like taking off all the time. When switched off it was rather cold. The room at 7th floor had a nice balcony and a nice view, but not all rooms had.

After staying in Baixa Vincci Hotel - stayed for one night at Mundial. Such a big difference! Noisy, not very clean. Primitive buffet. But as an option for one night is OK!

Room Tip: Ask for upper floors!
