Wow, what a great experience. The food is fantastic. Not only the menu, but the apetizers were amazing! And the staff...so friendly, spontanious and enjoying what they do.

Great food experience. Excellent service. This would have been a five star Saturday night, but maître d seated a foursome of rather loud and crude Brits, including one in a sleeveless Go-Daddy t-shirt -- this was not in keeping with the atmosphere, simply should not have been tolerated and detracted from the experience.

We had made a reservation at Belcanto and had read great reviews so we were looking forward to a gourmet meal. They couldn't find our reservation and although we had a confirmation in hand they wouldn't seat us. Lisbon is a city full of lovely restaurants so we didn't go hungry but I would not recommend a business that is so unorganized and rude to it's clientele.

This was a whole new experience in terms of restaurants.. I'm still not sure if I liked it or not, food was ok, but the way it is prepared and presented was very interesting... it was totally worth the experience... I didn't like what I ordered too much, but the other people in my party seemed very happy with their food. I had the prawn dish that was prepared three different ways, gazpacho, rice and some other thing that I cant even remember. It tasted very fishy.. The other meals, as mentioned, were very good.

Never too certain about the hype of Michelin Stars and a big name chefs, we had to give Belcanto and Jose Avillez a try. What a great decision! The shorter 10-course menu was exquisitely prepared and presented by attentive wait staff eager to share knowledge. The "inverted" martini was only one of a parade of unique concoctions highlighting a wonderful experience ... too many to mention here. If you are looking for a remarkable culinary adventure while in Lisbon, you've found your destination.
