“Buy the 24-hour Pass”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

My travel buddy and I bought the 24-hour public transportation pass for Lisbon for one of the three full days we were in the city. We used the pass to take the #15 tram out to Belem and back into the city. Then we took the #28 tram from the west-side starting point at the Cemetery of 'Pleasures' (Cemitério dos Prazeres) and rode it until we were told to get off. It was getting dark at this time, so the tram wasn't very crowded with tourists. We really wanted to watch the tram driver and feel what it was like to go up and down the steep hills. I had also read that the tram driver will sometimes stop and get out to assess a particular situation. This was the case when our tram driver had to see if she'd be able to pass a parked car with a large ladder or something on the top of it, and it was almost impossible to pass. We were also able to use the same ticket to take a ride in the Santa Justa Lift (the Eiffel Elevator). I recommend this trip to anyone interested in historic public transportation options. It was really interesting!

“Touristy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Very touristy, a must do thing, but a neat way to see a lot of the tourist areas of the city. For the price it certainly a must. Try to go off peak so you can sit down otherwise you do not see much.

“Nice but crowded”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

The tram was a nice scenic ride through the historic suburbs and insight into the lives of some of the locals. Mostly very crowded though which makes it impossible to see anything if you're not sitting down at the window.

“very crowded better off walking”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

it is a nice ride until they start picking up people to go the castle then it is very packed with everybody trying to get on so they do not have to walk up hill to the castle i rode it to the castle pickup then got off and took my time walking up the hill getting a much better view of the sights than from the packed tram, i guess it took about 20 minutes to walk up the hill, the other trams are less crowded and nice to ride
